I'd recommend for the open essay (the one where YOU pick a book to write about) that you choose 3 books and study them well. Know all the main characters and several important scenes. I'm going to pick out some scenes from my books and see how many literary elements I can use along with that scene. This way when they say using "tone, imagery and figures of speech" you already know how to use the scenes you've picked out for each of those elements. The only thing you can't really prepare for is the argument, which is why you've got 3 books lined up in case your first one doesn't fit well with the prompt. As for the multiple choice, take some practice exams. Good luck, I'm not to stressed about this exam. --------------------   | ||

As long as you have a good understanding of literary features, you will do just fine. I'm sure you know this, but stray away from summarizing the story and focus on the purpose behind the events and structure, as well as any shifts that occur in the story. The multiple choice is mainly a gauge of your understanding of elements like tone and theme, as well as the underlying purpose. Good luck when you take the test and remember that the AP folks do curve the scores  --------------------  | ||

Pfft, I don't play RS. Okay, so I thought the exam was pretty easy tbh. Not supposed to talk about it I know, the Council of Testing Integrity (or whatever the **** it is) will kill us or something, but I won't give away anything juicy. I finished way sooner than I thought I was too, but that's cool, gave me time to doodle. -------------------- | ||

I was smart and decided to spend one of the two hours only on the essay where you analyze a poem (in my case comparing two poems via the characteristics of the speaker and their view of the world) and left the final hour to plan and write two essays...I did finish though. My essays got progressively shorter, haha. I think I did well though, I had some good analysis and made sure things were clear so hopefully that counts for something. You got Form A right? I think I got Form B since I'm international. -------------------- | ||

I don't know why you would need to study, the format is very similar to AP Comp & English, and you only need a 4 for most schools, a 3 for most public schools too. There also wasn't three hours for the essays, only suggested time of 40minutes each for a total of 120 minutes. -------------------- | ||
AP Lit Exam Thursday
