 Got a new pc today:') Its awesome 23inch moniter Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit, Inter core i5 Processor 2300, NVIDIA GeForce GT420 1024mb, 1TB Harddrive, 6GB DDR3 Memory, DID super multi drive, Multi-in-1 Media card reader.

 Not a laptop its a desktop <3 I really like it its just so fast! Ill be upgrading it later on next year since my bmx will be £500.

Pc costed £700 ex- all the other stuff i bought with it smile.gif

It's not that much better than your laptop Mark, and it's a bit more expensive neko2.gif

It does have the lovely combination that typical HP/Dell/Acer (etc) pre built PC's have, a combination of parts that really don't make sense....

Here's a list of things that just don't make sense to me lol:
  • 95% of people would be lucky if they ever had more than 100gb of data, so why not cut down the size of the Hard Drive and put the saved money somewhere else in the PC? There's nothing strictly wrong with having a large HDD, but it's pretty wasteful
  • 6 gb of Ram again is pointless for the average home user, again, there's not much wrong with having too much ram, but they've clearly cut costs elsewhere then wasted money on Ram
  • A GT 420 (Graphics Card) is pretty much useless for anything other than RS, using it in a media PC or old games.... Seems a shame to have heaps of Ram, a good CPU and then they went 'Derp lets save money on the graphics side of things' so your PC sucks for gaming.... rolleyes.gif
I mean all in all it's a fine PC if you don't expect too much from it, but if they'd cut out 2Gb of Ram and halved the size of the Hard Drive they probably would have saved enough for a GTS 450 or something like that, which is a card that you could actually game on....

So basically, I don't get why companies seem totally unable to build a PC that somewhat balances the capabilities of it's CPU, Ram and graphics.

I'm sorry, I'm not meaning to criticise, and I'm sure it'll do what you want, it just isn't what I'd pick if I was building a PC madeoface.gif

 I agree with Zooby lol, I hate premade comps, I always make my own.. There was a topic on here earlier on year but dunno where with a bit of info that shuld be read before buying comps.

 Tbh i dont get how you can say the graphics card is wank... I can play rs,wow,starcraft 2, gta IV crossfire,warrock on maxed graphics no lag etc? am i missing something? thanks for the feedback thou

I believe you on one of those games, RS.

There is absolutely no way a GT 420 could play Starcraft 2 or GTA 4 on anything other than pretty much minimum graphics. Unless you've got the wrong numbers there....

I can't be bothered searching out a benchmark for a GT 420 (yes they're so crap mainstream websites don't even test them) but better cards, such as the GT 430, can barely play similar games at mid specs.

Here's a benchmark for Starcraft 2, for the more powerful GT 430 (and it's on a smaller res than your screen too.... lol):

(bearing in mind a game is considered unplayable if it's under 30fps)

 I cant check because im on holiday but i must have gotten the graphics card wrong or something because i can play on maxed settings with no lag :S /confused
