Well I'm going to eventually upgrade my laptop from 2gig of RAM to 4gig.

But at the same time I'm short on hard drive space. I only have a 120gb disk and I'm thinking of eventually putting in a 320gb drive.

I want to know what you guys think I should get first.

I'd go with the RAM first because I like multitasking and being able to run things quickly.

It depends on what you prefer doing really. HDD is mostly for storage, and depending on the speed how fast you can access information on your HDD.

If you're more into just downloading stuff and keeping it without worry go with the HDD first. If you're into more immediate speed and better multitasking ability, go with the RAM.

I'm more of a speed person so it stands to reason why I'd go with the RAM. I've had my MacBook Pro for about 4 months now and have only used 70 GB out of 200.

Well, I would run task manager for a while and check memory usage when using a bunch of heavy-usage programs. If you are maxing out your memory, and using a lot of cache, then its probably a good idea to get more memory. If however you aren't coming close, I would look around for some tips on how to load system files into memory, and reduce or turn off your cache file, and speed up your computer that way.

Harddisk wise, that won't affect speed unless you get within a few gigs of being full, or if it is extremely fragmented.
As you have a laptop, I suggest you keep the harddisk you have and go buy a 500gb or 1tb external harddisk - They are much cheaper than any laptop harddisk, and anyway 120gb is plenty of space to be using at any one time. I have a 40gb harddisk in my laptop and it took quite a while to get full, and once I started moving my large downloaded video files and such, it didn't get close.

Also, I don't know the specs of your laptop - Depending, you may not get much if any benefit from going over the 2GB you have now:

Hope that helps!

I have 2 Hard disks, one 40gig(for my vista) and another 120gig(for w/e I want to do with it) and I will probably never use all that memory.

I don't know about you, but I'm running vista and 2 GB is more than enough. 4 GB is a waste IMO. I would get the Hard Drive just because you need space on your computer, and chances are you already have enough speed. You may think you're getting more out of 4 GB than you were with 2 GB, but you probably aren't. I could be wrong. If you have 50 photoshop processes open at one time, then maybe RAM is for you, but I doubt you are doing anything like that.
