How did you set the Wireless connection up? Did you do it yourself?
If so, do you remember if you protected the wireless connection with a kind of 'WEP' key, which could range from 8 characters to like..26.

It seems to be that your wireless connection is password protected, and of course, when trying to connect an external item, such as a PSP or Xbox or so through WiFi etc. you'll need to add in the WEP Key.

I'm not very experienced, but I'll give my two cents.
I had to connect my PSP through my wireless connection, when it scanned for connections, it automatically detected my wireless network, I then chose it...then it asked for this 'WEP' key thing, I remember phoning up my ISP and asking about this, and they told me my WEP Key, so I typed it into the PSP, and hey presto, it worked.

What I advise is that you try to 'Scan' or 'Detect' your wireless connection FROM your Xbox's point of view first. If it doesn't detect anything, then I'm not sure what to do.

Because what Xbox's guide is basically allowing you to do without you noticing is that ANYONE can connect to your internet and steal your mbps. If I lived next door and I had a USB Wireless Adaptor or Wireless Card, I could search for your connection and connect to it freely, meaning I'll live off your internet, avoiding paying £10-£30 a month on internet bills. Obviously, you would be clever enough to protect it =P, I think Xbox's guide is pretty outdated.
