Thought I'd post a thread to see how you guys have built your PCs. Post links/pics/etc.![]() Case Video Card Processor DVD Drive Hard Drive RAM Motherboard Power Supply I bought this computer around January 10th this year, and I've been loving it. I got a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate from my brother's friend. Vista definitely is a performance hog, but not by very much. I don't play many graphically demanding games, but I've had such huge improvements in games such as Counterstrike (1.6 and Source) WoW, and I also bought Crysis a few weeks later. Crysis would probably not even be able to install on my old computer, yet this computer can run it all on high settings. It was about time I upgraded, and I've enjoyed it ever since. My setup is an absolute mess. I have modem/router/speakers behind my computer, printer next to my computer, and a mousepad so big it doesn't fit on my desk (18 inches by 15 inches, approx) My headset is a Icemat Siberia (Black) and mouse is an MX518. Keyboard is Saitek Eclipse 2. I have just about the perfect setup for a gamer, if only I could keep it cleaner. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Low/mid end Core2, but it gives me a procesor score of 5.1 on vista so it's not too bad. In all honesty I doubt I strain it much, about the hardest thing I do with it is C&C 3. Ram: 4x 1gb sticks, 667 mhz. This is a bit of a bad mix at the moment, I really need to replace the stock ram cards (2x 1gb) as they aren't nearly as good as the corsair Xms2 I put in later. Ah well. HDD: Some sort of 7,200 RPM 500 GB drive, I've never really been worried about it's spec's because I havent needed high preformance storage yet. I plan to get another HDD soon, and begin running vista and my programs off that. I will probably go for either a 10,000 or 15,000 RPM drive. Most of my 500 GB is taken up by music and vid's so they hardly need a high speed drive. Graphics: XFX 8600 GT w/Zalman fan, 256 Gddr3 (lol.... whatever Gddr3 is.) This thing runs slightly faster than the average 8600 GT, from what I understand it is a similar speed to an 8600 GTS. Seems to run my screen fine so I can't complain. Sound: Crap, Intergrated. Currently having a 2x 200 watt RMS amp built for me, however that will be a few months away. Once that's done I have a pair of Bower's and Wilkins DM 110's to use, theyvre awesome speakers (100 watts RMS, yeah the amp's overpowered). Screen: 22" widescreen LCD. Always nice when playing RS as you can always do something and still have your RS window open. (5% of the time I have RS and a movie open ![]() The rest is all stock dell, so the motherboard, dvd drive, case are all pretty booring/****. -------------------- ![]() Old awards wat Most Mature & Most Honourable Most Dedicated|IRC Freak|Best Emeritus Placeholder lolz |

For another, the power to the backlight is provided by a 13.5V RadioShack power supply located approximately 6 feet from me, with the cable being old LED Christmas light wire. For another, instead of an internal power supply to turn the low voltage into 600+V, now that functionality is provided by the blueish boxes hot-glued to the back. My computer may be old and held together with electrical tape, but it is stable, reasonably fast, and reasonably quiet. It also never gets above 45C. -------------------- Old Avatar - Paypal donation link ![]() I am left handed, and proud of it! Retired from RuneScape. Going to replace the stock hard drive with something more spacious and faster and add another 2GB of ram and see where that takes me. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |
