On my last visit to WG IRC, I've noticed how WG has changed, or I have. I don't know if its just me, but I just like the constant crap that is shown by the members, and especially our leaders.

More or less it's the constant spamming, "fun kicking", the use of much hated words like "L, OMFG, WTF LOLOLOLOL". This bring me to the point about our leaders, mostly council. I don't know why, but I just don't like you using these words. THIS IS GOING TO BE CONTROVERSIAL, but I just don't like that crap. It's like I'm hypocrite, I can say it, yes I'm a dumb member, but you, an intelligent council member CANNOT. But then, doubling it with spam, for example:

(21:52:01) <@Jack> OMG HAI BEN!!!
(21:52:02) <@Jack> BENN#
(21:52:02) <@Jack> BENN#
(21:52:03) <@Jack> BENN#
(21:52:04) <@Jack> HAI
(21:52:06) <@Jack> HAI

Really irritating. The clan see's you as a powerful and respectable figure in the community, but here you are, spamming and saying some shit that fucks up the English language.

My views on the council in IRC have always been the same. In my days, the council were relatively quiet, spoke rarely, but were always there to talk to. These days, they are very loud, and speak heaps. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but they contribute to much of the crap from above. It just sends me a bad image of the council.

Also to note is just the childish shit that happens. The swearing conducted in the channel. Have I lost my mind? Have I become a fun less retard? I don't know, but my idea of how an IRC channel should be run, has changed.

The mindless shit conversations that happens in the IRC is unbelievable. Just the General feeling of the channel is very bad. I feel like everyone behind each of those computers are 12 year olds. No structured discussions or intelligent debates or quest helping for the sake of playing. Its all like "OMFG HAI <3"...."OMG WTF BULLSHIT"...."OH NOES :*("......

Like I said, it might be me. Did I outgrow WG, since when? It might be the fact that I'm in a Battlefield 2 clan full of 20+ year olds.

Like I said.....Back in the day IRC was very calm, people talking generally about the game and debates were raised occasionally. The ops made a comment once every 15mins about something but were always there to talk to...like I said before.

I don't know where I'm going with this, but its just what I noticed tonight on IRC.

Discuss?

~Jordan

Huh? the old iRC had atleast 5 conversations going at once, another person announcing an upcoming event constantly every minute and another spamming useless crap (i.e me). The iRC has come a long way from what it used to be of sex talk (Which i miss:(). Council members fitting into the clan in my opinion is much better, but when it comes down to the serious topics/situations that need to be dealt with, obviously they have to get down to serious business.

Previously the council members, who were voted in would play runescape with private on off, and very rarely join in the topics being thrown around in the iRC, leaving members to think "Wow, the council members are so cut off from the clan, do they even play anymore? i thought we voted them in because they were active members participating in all aspects of the clan life". With the end result of, council members retiring 3 weeks later or just disappearing off the face of the earth.

It's just like me, lately with these topics being raised i've been pretty serious when it comes down to it, but everyone knows i'm a total idiot in iRC/ts biggrin.gif (Well, some lol), cause clowning around is OK, it lightens the atmosphere most the time.

Jordan it's either you have grown apart from the crowd of sarcastic "LOLOLOLOLOL ILY WONG TIME </3" peoples, or you sir, are a 70 year old bogan.

Interesting point of view. When you open a clan to anyone and everyone, you're bound to get people with different views on how 'mature' and 'respectable' conversation should be. And subsequently, you're going to get clashes.

It also varies on what role you think the council should have. Are they superior leaders, or one of the crowd with an extra duty?

Personally I take a middle view. They ought to losen up and have fun, but there's got to be someone who people look up to as a mature figure who has a firm charge on everything.

Kicking for fun is alright in its measure. When people start to get annoyed, its gone too far.

While the council can involve themselves in casual activity with the members, they should also actually tell us what they're doing from a leadership position. What happened to council reports? Council meetings? We're losing the other sort of communication.

I knew I'll get pinned for that Mike, but there is a time. I just wanted to strengthen my message across. But when it comes to situations like this;

(21:52:01) <@Jack> OH MY F#CKING GOD
(21:52:02) <@Jack> www.wildernessguardians.com/forums/124431

Just unnecessarily, not pinpointing the council because it is mostly from our general members. It's just something I dislike and needs to be toned down.

There is a very, very fine line between Mature clan and Childish clan. We are, somewhat in the middle. I am just trying to poke us towards the Mature clan, as I believe, from what I saw, we are leaning slightly towards Childish clan. It is indeed, a very fine line, and I'm just trying to change the little things to help improve the community.

And yes, I would like to see the monthly Council Report happening and Council Meetings (at least through MSN/TeamSpeak). Very interesting note, hopefully the council will do something about it.

I agree with you JRM. I am glad that full screen came out, so I do not have to deal with the foul mouthed fools. It is said that only the stupid and foolish swear, intelligent people can communicate with out resorting to it.

I know everyone wants to have fun, but guys irc is not a locker room. Think, what would your mothers say!

Runescape is a "G" rated game and so should our irc. I don't use it. As an official clan of RS we should up hold all their rules.

Oh and I am old council and I never played with my friends off. Problems was I never got to play half the time, because of moderating the irc, doing forum work, and or processing applications. There was always at least 2 to 3 hours a day of just plain old fashion work. Do not get me wrong I loved it, but it did take time that the general membership is not aware of.

I personally don't mind the "leet talk" on IRC, as that's really what it's for. Just for some fun, quick and easy chatting amongst friends. That kind of behavior is ok with me as long as it isn't excessive.

The forums are for business and more professional conduct. IRC should be geared for the laid-back casual chatting, but again, as long as it's not overly excessive or harmful to others.
