Geetings to the Wilderness Guardians.

My name is Shovyk.

I came in to know about the existence of this clan quite some time ago. The first time I saw your website and started to listen to the music, while navigating around, I was in awe. The website you made is fabulous. Many must have said this hundreds of time before but as a guest and a newcomer to this region, I can not allow myself to not give my regards about it. What captured me was the music playing on the website. You will understand why later on.

I believe to have read the most important parts of the website (or maybe not) and I intend to read the full story of this clan once I will find the time to do it. I do not wish to become an official member of this clan. Becoming a member is followed by responsibilities that I would have to agree with. In fact, thinking about it, it would be more appropriate to say that I *can't* become a member instead of "I do not *want*". It is not because I do not have the combat level or other things similarly but because I am a busy man in real life. Therefore, it would be best for me to become an active friend of WG. I am a very sensible person. I felt something special, something to discover about WG that is profound.

About me...

I am 20 years old. I am a Canadian living in Quebec province. I currently am at college level studying in music. This year is my last year in college before I decide to pursue at the university. However, university costs here are high nowadays here. I might have to collect money by working full time for a year.

I surround my life with music. My favourite style is instrumental/orchestral music. This is why your clan captivated me, because of the music. I also listen to various styles such as metal, rock, techno, soundtracks. My favourite metal group is Nightwish. Nightwish is a 'symphonic power metal' group. My father is one of the biggest soundtrack collectors in the world. With over 8000 dics that he has here at home, we can call him "one of the" biggest soundtrack collectors. Throughout my childhood, my father always played soundtracks or instrumental music. My ear married this style and I adore big orchestral sounds. I admire the works of film composers such as Thomas Newman, Jerry Goldsmith, James Newton Howard and classical composers in the 1800 – 1900's like Gustav Holst and Bedrich Smetana and many others.

I can play the piano, the trumpet, the tuba, and this winter, I will probably learn to play the violon or the alto. I also compose music and since a year now, I have been enjoying it. In probably two years at most, I will have my first album on the market. It will of course be instrumental music but with something new. For example, one of the tracks that there will be on this album is a techno orchestral style, kind of something out of the common. Just try to imagine yourself techno music playing with a full orchestra behind, orchestra of 100 musicians playing must I precise lol. I recently bought a powerful computer in order to compose bigger projects. It is an Intel. Here are its characteristics:
  • Dual Core, Quad CPU
  • 2.66GHz - 2.67GHz
  • 2.98GB de RAM
  • Physical Address Extension

A brief summary of my RuneScape history.

I started playing RuneScape in december 2004. I was lucky enough to get a yo-yo (holiday item). My favourite skill is mining and I mine runites to make cash. By the way, on the official forums of Jagex, I posted a guide about runites. This guide will mostly interest runite miners as I explain a secret based on mathematics.

Thread title: .:The Runite Formula:.
Forum: Skills
Quick Find Code: 22-23-164-56629978

My clan history comes from French communities. I never was member of an English clan. Maybe have you heard of the ~French Riders~... As a matter of fact, French Riders was at that time (2006 – 2007) the biggest French clan and I was one of the council members.

I also administrated RuneScapeFan for 18 months. I retired recently. I was also a council member of the clan ~La Légende du Dragon~ (~The Legend of the Dragon~ in english). Nowadays, when I have time to play, I mostly play in solo. I rarely play now.

Conclusion

As you can see, I am a very "talkative" fellow. Of all the forums I visited, I am known as a "3km slice of bread" poster. My slice of bread is so long to read, that people can't finish eating it that they are already satisfied!

As a last resort, English is not my first language I take pride in my mother tongue to speak and write well and I try to do likewise for English, the only other language I can write, read and speak. I took the whole night to compose this letter. Thanks to the Harrap's French-English dictionary!

Please accept the best of my kind regards.

Hi there, Shovyk neko2.gif

Very very nice post there, from what I can see not only a very good morale boost for the clan itself but also a great display of yourself, your hobbies interests etc. It's always great from my own perspective to see people who are passing by actually give feedback on things they like/dislike. It's obviously very useful biggrin.gif

I'm stunned that you say English isn't your first language ohmy.gif You've composed that letter really well... for a French-man tongue.gif Nice wink.gif

I must agree with what you say about the site. It's very well made and in my opinion is the best RuneScape Clan WebSite there is (IMO).

Welcome to the WG Forums!

~Mugger84

P.S. Nightwish is one of my favourite bands also biggrin.gif

Hi Shovyk, welcome to WG Forum. I hope it will to prove itself fruitful and appealing nonetheless to you in time to come.

The website had been improved and created by the former leader and founder His Lordship but now maintained by current leaders where applicable. Definitely understand what you mean by inspiring on its own. Always inspiring to know it continues giving its inspiration.

Just want to say your post is very connecting. You say English is not your first language but you write & express it more than a first. It is both enjoyable to read and also to reflect.

And your candor in accepting clan life or not into your RS career is definitely understood. Thank you for those wonderful compliments. You have here an enriching post. Certainly hope to see more of your participation here. Bon vous rencontrer. Merci.

P.S. I'm not really good with French, understand that its a main language for Quebec? Pardon me. And once again welcome, TY.

Wow, I like you already.

Hi, I'm Colin. 18(actually, turning 19 in two weeks) year old musician from Michigan, USA. I am a percussionist. Music is in my blood, and throughout my family. My sister plays french horn, mellophone, trumpet, trombone and piano. My dad plays baritone and cornet. My mom plays flute. I could go on and on. biggrin.gif

Nightwish is also one of my favorite bands, although I don't think getting rid off Tarja Turunen was such a great idea. Their new CD Dark Passion Play does not live up to their older stuff.

My favorite composers also include James Newton Howard, Jerry Goldsmith, and Gustav Holst..as well as Hans Zimmer, Ludwig van Beethoven and Danny Elfman.

I'm glad you have taken interest in our clan, if only to be a friend. This clan has a rich and colorful history indeed, and our website illustrates that. Well, welcome to our forums. Enjoy your stay. hash.png

Welcome to the WG forums. I read this post and your entire post about Runite Mining on the forums. I was absolutely amazed and it helped me a lot. Its not often that we have a visitor with something so profound to say. I'm glad you posted here. And even though English is not your first language, I must say that I think you speak better English than me.

Thank you for the compliment about my website. I'm really glad you like it. It's actually a great honour to receive your regards. You may be surprised to know a thing or two about me.

I created the website and hand-picked all the music myself. You liked the music so much because your tastes are very similar to mine.

I am a composer, studying at the University of Western Australia. I am also 20 and I am making my first album in a few years also. I'm a pianist but more than anything composition is my speciality. I love all the composers you mentioned. In fact, here is my defining list of amazing composers:

IN THE FILM INDUSTRY

Hans Zimmer
James Newton-Howard
Howard Shore
Thomas Newman
Harry Gregson Williams
Joe Hisaishi
Alejendre Desplat (Can't remember the spelling lol)
Nigel Westlake
Michael Nyman

IN BROADWAY

Steven Sondheim

IN CLASSICAL

Arvo Part
John Adams
Gustav Holst
Ralph Vaughen-Williams
Dimitri Shostakovich
Igor Stravinsky
Claude Debussy
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
Camille Saint-Saens
Richard Wagner
Ottorino Respighi
Benjamin Britten

-----------------------

It always pleases me greatly to speak to other music lovers from around thre world, especially the more refined ones who have an understanding of art music. I think techno orchestras are the way of the future so props to you. I am on a similar track. I'm a populist composer and i'm trying to bring music back to the every-day person rather than stuck in the concert hall.

Please, give me your full name. If I ever hear your name in the world music industry... I'd like to recognise you.

Well I can't claim to have the same love for and understanding of classical music as you do, but it's nice to hear someone say they like Holst for once. He'd been a childhood favorite of mine, and I still dust off the LP recording of The Planets.

Your topic on runite mining was intriguing, and must have been very laborious to gather information for. I've never been one to time myself between ores, but it's still good to know someone cracked the formula.

WOW!!!

Thank you people for this big welcome. I did not expect so many posts on the first day. rolleyes.gif

Sadly, I worked this noon and I have to work again later in 40 minutes. I will have more time tomorrow to read carefully once again everyone's posts and give a more interesting reply.

Thank you for the effort on the French post Bassism. biggrin.gif

Glad you appreciated my guide Sonixpber. I will eventually post it here on the WG forums. I look forward to visit your WG's IRC also. wink.gif

To Colinwarrior

I wonder how life must be when the members of your immediate family are artists. My father is not an artist but he also has an understanding of art music and he really is a refined one, if I may allow myself to re-use His Lorship’s words! I am the only artist/musician in my family. My cousin sings and studied at the same school I am studying at now but she does not have great talent...

About Nightwish
QUOTE (Colinwarrior)
Their new CD Dark Passion Play does not live up to their older stuff.

Tarja Turunen's voice was so dramatic, so magical, so beautiful that it took too much place in the band. Her voice was so powerful that we, the fans or the listeners, had difficulty to listen to the music produced by the other instruments. Forgive me for repeating myself but I do not have the right word to say it rightly at the moment but what I am trying to say is this: Nightwish was Tarja Turumen. Do you understand what I mean and do you agree?

To Sonixpber

As I said earlier in the above post, I will eventually post this guide on this forum. This guide is intended to help miners in their way of making money with runites. I also wrote a guide about power mining in French. I started transcribing it not to long ago but since I got my new computer, I am less on the forums, I play less RuneScape and I stopped re-writing it. Nevertheless, I will surely finish the transcription and post this second guide. Since you are a lvl 85+ miner, you will surely like it. Again, I am glad you appreciated my formula.

By the way, in my 7th post, chapter 6 of my guide, you can see two time tables. One is based on my formula and the other is based on one I never tried to crack out. It shouldn’t be to much a pain to crack it since I have all the numbers I need but people gave me feedback that I should take some time one day and do it.

To Back to Own

I also have seven years of piano experience. It has been a while that I played something interesting on this instrument however. Next semester, I will be having a complementory instrument course and it will be the piano. Those 15 hours of framing from a teacher will put me back to it.

To His Lordship

You and me have a lot in common. I would prefer not to give my full name for the time being. In time, I might do it.

I have not talked about my Grandfather yet. Yup, I might have to give out my name soon... Just a bit of patience before. I prefer to know more about this community before. I would not want to sell the skin of the bear before having killed it!

To Reticked

Hi Reticked,

I love Avantasia which is a mix of four bands. Avantasia is a band which Tobias Sammet, leader of the metal band called Edguy, founded to produce a metal opera style. Musicians that he asked to play in Avantasia come from Stratovarius, Kamelot, Edguy, Helloween, Rhapsody and other bands.

I also adore Rhapsody and Elvenkings. Rhapsody for its epic metal style and Elvenkings for its Irish yet medieval style.

Kamelot also is a band I appreciate and lastly, Dragonforce. Everything that is Power Metal, I usually find it good.

It is getting late now. I will be heading to my bed for a good night sleep. Thank you to those that posted. Good night.

Hey His Lordship,

I wonder... Have you thought of composing a main theme for WG once? After all, you founded the clan, you made the website, but have you thought of composing a big orchestral hit, music representing the perspective, the vision, and how life is here with the WG? You know that orchestral techno I made, the one I mentioned in my overture post, as a matter of fact, I composed this music for my clan ~La Légende du Dragon~. People were pleased to have a main theme to press play on when arriving on the forum.

Anyway, it is just a proposition I am making. It was rather fun to compose something for a virtual community I can tell you!
