Not many people put up with farming consistently, so this is almost a GUARANTEED profit.

You'll need a decent farming level (+50 minimum) and ways to get to the four herb patches. I use: Ardounge Teleport, Camelot Teleport, Glory Amulet and Ectophial (from the Ghosts Ahoy quest). Magic Secateurs from the Fairy Tale pt.1 quest are also awesome, since they give you +1 herb per harvest (not sure if that's official but I'm convinced). You'll also need the basics like a spade, rake, seed dibber and SUPER compost.

I suggest that you have 15-30 levels ABOVE the requirement to grow a herb before you invest too heavily in this. As an example, I usually have a death rate among Snapdragons of 12.5-25% at +20 the required level. That isn't too bad, and I've been growing them consistently for quite awhile. In comparison, I haven't had a ranarr die on me in eons with +50 the required level, so the more you've got the better off you are.

The income range allows for up to a 25% death rate for what you plant, which should be unlikely unless you're planting something within 10 levels of your current farming level. Be careful though. I usually buy the herbs in lots of 20, so that's where that last column comes from. I usually start at the Morytania patch, then go to Catherby and bank. From there I hit Ardounge and then Draynor, which gives me bank stops after every two plants.

Basically this is a plant-and-forget system, go back after about two hours and harvest them up. If you're really into it like I was a few months ago you can do a cycle in the morning, then two to four more in the afternoon/evening, which can get you up to 20 plants a day. If you're more laid back you can still get 8-12 pretty easily though, and the cycles don't take more than a few minutes.

Just a note on the minimum-maximum income ranges. If you're conservative, and want to make sure you get a solid profit even if there's a higher death percentage, you should plant something like kwuarms that have a high minimum income range but a lower maximum income range. If you're not worried about your plants dying as much, you can take on something riskier like snapdragons.

Estimates are pasted on a 7.5 herb-yield per plant, which is consistent for me over 150 plants.
This is what I got from my last 20 ranarrs, not counting the 422k in seed costs:

So there you have it. Between this, barrows, and another method I'll probably be posting about in a few days, I paid off 99 smithing and now have close to 24m in cash sitting in my bank awaiting the Skill Olympics. If you try this out, good luck! Just be conservative at first I don't want anyone pissed off at me if they lose like 500k. blink.gif

I've never gotten less than 5 herbs with them in well over 100 plants, so as far as I'm concerned they work. happy.gif If you're looking at leveling farming, I used the income from herbs to pay for trees as well. It definitely speeds up the process.

There are alternate ways of doing it.

Both Pete and I prefer to farm on Lunar magics. You use the fishing guild teleport for the Ardy patch, and the Catherby tele for that one. You do need 87 mage for the Catherby teleport. You can cast Fertile soil, which saves on supercompost, and gives mage exp.

Also, invest in marigold seeds. If you are doing just herbs, go ahead and plant a marigold. The seeds are cheap, less than 100 gp. At this exact moment of posting this...

The part I want you to see?

Marigolds: 3,430gp - 3,791gp

From something that costs less than 100 gp, you get so much back. EVEN IF HALF OF THEM DIE, you get so much more profit. Just stick them on GE for medium price.

First important tip:
Always, ALWAYS use super compost with herbs.
Second tip:
Always pay the farmer. You can't with herbs and flowers though... But almost everything else you can.

Tried this out with ranarrs

Took me about 3 days of work, maybe like 10 minutes per trip. I didnt really do them every 2 hours, just when I was free:

I was 59 farming, last patch got me 60 farming

First number - Seed number
Second number - Crop yield

All of these were just grown with super compost and forgotten. Used magic sectaurs:

1: 6
2: dead
3: 5
4: 5
5: dead
6:7
7:7
8:dead
9: 10
10: 8
11:9
12:6
13:5
14:6
15:12
16:6
17:5
18:6
19:dead
20:6
21:7
22:7
23:6
24:7
25:9
26:7
27:7
28:5
29:8
30:5

=177 ranarrs

Rounding ranarrs to 6k each, that gets me 1,062,000 gp at the cost of about 600k

I use these teleports:
Fishing guild teleport (Ardy patch)
Explorer ring - Cabbage teleport (Fally patch)
Catherby teleport (Catherby patch)
Ecophial

Good guide, again hash.png

I think I should just mention.
The herb patch at Troll Stronghold on the top floor (roof) is disease free even without super or normal compost.

Seeds cannot die there!
I think you need to do my arms big adventure for access to it.

I tend to use limp seeds, you get alot more farming exp but not as much profits. I normally only do marrigolds when you make me sleep.gif Lol

But yeah, i'd say the Lunar magic way of farming is better. But that's just me. ^-^
Start off with ectophial tele
Then fishy guild tele
Bank at draynor (using glory) go to the cabbage patch farming area.
Then lastly tele to Catherby.

This way of farming you need runes 1 trip = 30 astrals, 20 natures, 10 law (I think) However you must have a mudd battlestaff/mystic staff for the infinate Earth/Water.

Snap seeds are much better to farm aswell, get more exp in both Farming and Herblore, and a larger profit all-round, besides i think the seconds for super restore is cheaper than the seconds for pray pots. ohmy.gif

reading this thread reminded me i need to start farming again. XD *nudges Tabs* c'mon you we good farm hash.png

The reason I'm not doing snaps is because they still die on me a little too often, so I actually make more off ranarrs. happy.gif I'll have to look into lunars...

Just an update on the last 45 seeds if anyone's interested in exact statistics. smile.gif Four first plots are ranarrs, the fifth plot is Trollheim where I started putting in Snapdragons. I've already deducted the cost of each seed, then totaled the profit by column and then by the total after every five cycles. "---" in one of the plot rows is a death.

The only problem with the disease free patch is you only get set number of herbs with no chance of extras.

The septars I've read somewhere give 20%. But I could not find it again to link you sorry.

I think I will start farming again occassionally.
