This is what I would do as leader
Move this to a private forum.
A few people said I should return to WG.
That is getting less likely as my friends leave.

Well, if you can't have me, you can at least know what I would do to change WG.
If the leadership chooses to do this, it would be almost as if I were leading.

1. Take the emeritus off the main ML
Don't muddy up our strength. We need a true representation of it. As soon as we put them on the ML in the first place for that fucking CWPL (which I was against) we started to decline more and more and attendance actually got worse. The majority of our emeritus won't log into Runescape for WG.

2. Less punishment in general
Go by the policy that everyone loses control of their temper and this is natural. Don't punish members for flaming if it comes naturally. If it becomes a habit, they'll need talking to, but drama is healthy in small amounts. Let it get slightly out of control. When people fight, their values and attitudes are exposed and we learn about who they are. Fighting can be seen as bad by the leadership but it isn't. It's a community builder. Healthy families fight. Lift the strict censors you have on speech like sex talk. You've been offering less positive reinforcement and more negative stuff. Start letting your members get away with small doses of rebellion and flaming. It makes them happy. They are mostly teenagers after all.

3. Restore the event ratios.
A healthy amount of wars is as follows. One major 1 week prep war every 3 weeks or so. For other weekends, about 2 miniwars with shorter prep of a few hours to 1 day. And then every day have a fun event or skills event. It's time to go to BH. WG needs it. It's closer to the old wilderness than Clan Wars. It also is more fun.

4. Don't push the clan to work hard to compensate for loss of strength
WG has grown weaker and the leadership is expectin the upper ranks to work harder to kill in the gaps, and the members to attend more events. This just pisses the members off even more and makes it worse. You have to recognise that you can't do what you used to be able to do. Settle for less and slowly build your way back up.

5. Recruitment
Recruitment is fine as it is. 1 member a day or so is about the speed we are after so that is fine. But you need to negotiate with the old school. We need the old school members to give the community stability. See what you can do to recruit older members who still play RS. New members are great but the balance between old and now is so messed up now. We have too much new blood and the older members are feeling as out of place as the new ones. Continuous replacement of members is not the way to do it.

6. Do something for clan pride
I would make Flash movies or IRL movies or something. Make something really novel and fun that instills a sense of pride in the clan. It will help lift morale. Karaoke things on TS are also really cool. Or hold a massive drop party and post it on RSC and bring other clans there and then do a flower power. Just... get some excitement going. IRC quizzes occassionally are quite fun.

7. The leadership needs to be available much much more.
Be on the IRC a few hours a day, and on RS. When you don't want to spend your time scaping, be on MSN in case a member wants to talk to you about something. Be in close contact with WG.

8. BREAK TRIVIAL RULES
Yes rules are improtant. Don't ever dream of breaking the big ones. But fucking evade your own censors and start making some confronting humour. Suspend people from the forums for 1 hour because they look ugly in a picture and tell them you suspended them because "The picture was a threat to your mental sanity". Just bend the tiny rules around a little bit. Update the forum censor so that WG is replaced with "Wildy Fr00bs" or something. Just... let WG know that you aren't a tight ass.

9. Update the clan website
Find someone that can work Flash and have them add the new pics and the news and such. It's really helpful for morale AND activity. When members see that they have lots of events with good attendance, it's a good morale boost.

-----------------

I will think of a few more things later. That's off the top of my head.
Look, I've given you my advice, and that is what I would have done to help WG.
However much you take on board is up to you.
The ball is in your court now.
If you disagree, no surprises there.

Agreed with Bam but not with Owen ohmy.gif

As obviously Gene is an immensely experienced leader I would've said the leadership will take notice of everything he says. If they don't then they're blatantly stupid.

CWPL was the best thing that happened to Wg. Most clans around Wg's strength would never war in full out against you guys. People where complaining that there where not enough full outs and look the people got 7 weeks of them and then they go inactive after week 4. Tides come and go and of course from week to week the activity will be different. I dont think you can blame it on emiritus. They said they wanted to be on the list to go war and its to bad if they did not want to show up.

First two weeks were wonderful and then the clan got lower and lower attendance to wars.
It was not the best thing that happened to WG.
It locked us into a war oriented position and upset the community.

Computer...... $500

RS membership..... $5

Gene's take on this clan...... priceless

Here is my guess right now after reading your post: They will implement the things that you have outlined and it will work...for a month. Then things will go back to normal. The leaders here aren't strong enough to run this clan, however, you were. Yes, you were a little over the top with a few things but it will always be better than what is being thrown into the mix now.

Good ideas but the motivation to make such changes just aren't there.
