Just in case you were thinking "This thread is too long!" I'd like to say that no, it isn't. I spent an hour writing it and it's not even 5,000 words. tongue.gif As always, all criticism is welcome.

LEVIATHAN is a weekly mini-game designed for high-level slayers (12 of them). The requirements to access the caverns are excessive, but that's the point.

(The setting for LEVIATHAN involves a much larger suggestion which I am not yet ready to post. Just as an introduction though, you'll be in a complex series of old mines beneath the Wilderness. There's a temple located here, the occupants of which you've done some work for previously. In ages past, LEVIATHAN was a serious threat, and the purpose of this temple is to maintain and guard various magical barriers restraining the creature. There have been some mounting difficulties in recent weeks, however, and Abbot Becket has asked for your help in the matter).

LEVIATHAN is an ancient creature of immeasurable magic. It is also apparently immortal, mysteriously reappearing every seven days after it is slain. A very long time ago, LEVIATHAN was successfully sealed in a large series of caverns deep beneath the surface, but now the ancient spells are beginning to unravel, and more diabolical means must be taken. If you're up to it, Abbot Becket would like you to venture into the depths and slay LEVIATHAN before all is lost. And if you could come back and do it next week as well, that'd be excellent!

QUOTE (Eregion2)
This mini-game requires a minimum of 92 slayer, and will be very hazardous to your health. LEVIATHAN can be found in a subterranean lake in a large cavern, reached through a tunnel from the temple above. You'll need a light source of some kind; the silence is eerie and you step carefully so as not to trip over the remains of other adventurers who never lived to escape their prey.

At first the lake appears placid, but as you approach the surface begins to boil and froth madly (good place for a cutscene). LEVIATHAN, a three-headed hydra of monstrous proportions, breaks the surface in an awesome fury of waves. Her heads twist towards you and you take a better grip on your sword hilt as your heart stops dead in your chest, praying madly that you didn't get 92 slayer just to become sea-monster poop.

Although getting to LEVIATHAN is comparatively easy, the battle will be long and fierce. LEVIATHAN's three heads work independently, which means you'll practically be facing three lvl-800 monsters at once. LEVIATHAN also has a series of special attacks, the most powerful of which involves all three heads and is a high-pitched SCREAM which stuns every player in the cavern for several seconds, and deals 30-50 damage (healing LEVIATHAN for the full amount of damage dealt).

A less devastating variation of the SCREAM attack targets only one player, stunning them for 10 seconds and reducing their strength and magic levels dramatically. LEVIATHAN has roughly 1,500HP and uses both melee- and magic-based attacks in normal combat. This is also a DANGEROUS mini-game! If you die, you actually drop most everything you took in with you.

So far this has been comparatively straight-forward. It gets complicated when another one of LEVIATHAN's magical abilities comes into play, however. As the conflict progresses, she may summon the souls of fallen adventurers to slay you. Sundered Souls have about 250HP each, and regenerate at a noticeably faster rate, making them more troublesome to kill. There's also a few restrictions:

Sundered Souls (melee) cannot be damaged by range attacks.
Sundered Souls (mages) cannot be damaged by melee attacks.
Sundered Souls (range) cannot be damaged by magic attacks.

Also, whenever LEVIATHAN uses its SCREAM special attack, it will disturb a number of Giant Bats, which will become aggressive and attack you. They have roughly 100HP each, and a special attack of their own (BLEED. Deals 12DMG similar to Poison but can only be cured with Healing Potions).

The Giant Bats will drop nothing of interest; Sundered Souls can drop all types of rune equipment and some dragon weapons (rare). You can expect them to appear anywhere from four to ten at a time during the battle, so be careful. Also, LEVIATHAN will randomly shift her attacks a few times a minute, just so no one feels left out.

PS: You can learn to make Healing Potions after you've done a few odd jobs for the temple apothecary. Requires 85 herblore (Torstol + Crushed Gem, before casting the Lunar Heal Spell on the vial).

So what do you get from this? Due to the "Do Not Suggest" thread I'm not allowed to tell you, but I can say it's a primary color that's not yellow or blue and it's shaped like a kite. THE LOOT FROM LEVIATHAN WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR LOOTSHARE OR COINSHARE! Each player will receive their own loot from the kill, just as if they'd defeated the challenge solo.

Sundered Souls also have a (very, very rare) chance of dropping something else interesting I'm not allowed to mention, and you'll earn points with Abbot Becker for helping him out (there's much that the monks and clerics here can teach you if they think you're worth their time, including new spells and potions). And, finally, there's something of interest here for high-level miners as well.

After the battle, if you have 85 agility, you can climb through a rocky crag and up a sheer rock face, ultimately reaching a cleft where you'll find two dragon ore spawns (95 mining). I haven't posted my ideas for dragon smithing yet, but this is one of the places I'd like to put some rocks. I figure it'll be rare enough, since you can only get there once a week and it requires not only 95 mining, but also 92 slayer and high agility (there's also a failure chance involved in smelting; you'll only have a 10% chance of obtaining a "pure" dragon bar).

That's all I've got for now. Thoughts?

Pretty sick idea, and very well written. You should definitely look into the creative side of video gaming as a proffesion, many companies will take on storyboard writers.

As for the actual suggestion, again, amazing, you described it well, as both a challenge, but doable as a team, and with great rewards.
