 This has bothered me for some time, especially since we have irc admins living up our butts.
Certain people have made it a habit to talk graphically about sexual behaviour.

It has gotten them in trouble in the past but now the powerabuse of kicking people who either say something wrong or try to call this person down are getting worse.
It is like our public lobby is being used for a brothel.
It offends me that type of atmosphere is allowed to continue. Since we have to set such a good public example then please council make sure its being upheld.
It gets disgusting at times, when these conversations could easily be held in private.

The verbage there is as offensive as any picture I have seen on the forums.

 Exactly why I made a topic asking for IRC rules to be published, but council have conveniently ignored it for well over a month.

Seriously, if council aren't going to look at the suggestions forum, why the hell do we have it?

 I have always been one to support the introduction of IRC rules, purely because I feel that having a point of reference for Tertiaries/council to moderate from is a good thing.

I proposed this set of rules on May 11 this year,

[B]All Wilderness Guardians rules apply in the #WG and #WG_lobby IRC rooms.[/b]

Succinctly these rules are:

~Obey The Runescape Rules

~Show Courtesy At All Times
[I]Including no begging, flaming or spamming.  Please make sure you are particularily careful to obey this rule in #WG_lobby for the sake of out public image[/I]

~Do Not Compromise The Clan's Privacy
[i]Unless it is a PUBLIC WG event do not discuss an event of any shape or form in #WG_lobby, if they cannot get access to #WG they shouldn't be attending the event anyway.  No sensitive clan information at all should be posted in the lobby.[/i]

~Follow The Chain Of Command
[i]People have Operator and Half-Operator status for a reason, if they request that they do something you are obligated to follow their request.  If there is an insufficient amount of activer OP's/H-OP's temporay ones may be appointed (based on their rank within the clan), please do not demand to be given this.[/i]

[b]Other non-clan rules must also be followed, these are:[/b]

~No scripts are to be run in either #WG_lobby or #WG.
[i]We have some people who are running approved scripts, please do not run your own unless you have prior approval from a tertiary leader or higher, as we feel our current bot's provide us with the services we require.[/i]

~No Excessive spamming for events
[i]We know you want good attendance, that's fine, but please do not spam more than 3 lines per 30 seconds about one event.  If you feel that someone may have missed your event spam's then notify them nicely via pm that an event that they may be intersted is upcomming.[/i]

~Use your Forum name as at least part of your IRC nick
[i]This is for everyone's benefit, we do need to know who you are and nicks such as these:

Dave[Mining] <-- IRL Name
a13, or c_3, or r403 <-- Not enough to identify you
s_t_1_n_k_y <-- Someone's pure.... Not your WG nick.

Please use a nick that we can easily connect to your Forum account, such as:

Evil[Busy]
Buzz
Nirvanas[/i]

~Do not pretend to be someone else.
[i]expect to be kicked or potentially banned from our chatroom if you impresonate someone esle excessively.[/i]

~English only

Though these days some/most of those rules would no longer be relevant I hope this shows that there actually was some work done on the creation of IRC rules.

 Looks good at the moment, I'll do my own fine tuning soon.

Who was the objection from when you posted these? Was it council or public? If the latter I must have missed it.

EDIT: Rules look good, there's some missing but the ones up there look fine, with a few tweaks. Once other council respond to it, i'll take it to another topic so as to keep this one specific to power abuse + sexual references. Thanks evil.

Yes I 'might' have used the TDM rules as inspiration (as I found that you guys were normally fair, and I always enjoyed being in your IRC because the rules were well enforced).

I dont think I copy pasted anything though, because I was like 'oh noes, copyright' hash.png

 I have seen this plenty of times, i have told people to stop in the lobby, the lobby is a public place. I was asked to leave when Jenny was council because of something i did and then told from now on to take it to PM as that is what it is for.

I have not only seen WG members talk dirty in the lobby but i have seen half ops not asking them to stop till it got to out of hand! and this is from those NOT in WG who are in our lobby, and then are able to get back onto IRC and continue.

I hope this is sorted, i agree with your post 100% Jenny.

If behaviors as such as persist, open another room exclusive to dirty talks...let all who ye likes/love to behave as such be transferred or invited to it. At least, you have a realm that you could happily indulge. All else rooms are not acceptable.

Open a room! For all who think alike could happily co-exists without interference! And all others who think otherwise could have some justifiable appeasement. I'm sure we could come up with very exotic names for such a room? smile.gif

And...we could distinguish who revels at what best! Porn? Sex? Or not? Or only in pinches? Have a SEX ROOM to cater to your needs! Wonderful yes?!

Let's not mix them up, segregate. Definitely could identify who likes what best to what behavior is fun to your own liking - stereotype yourself! Be bold yes? Guests alike! Nice?

Oh well, if you're not mature enough to know what's respectable, that is condescendingly unfortunate. Oh uhm..."GTFO" you could say. Gratz, if you did. Besides management's management, I think each individual owe it to themselves too.

The thing that upsets and disgraces people is that it's also leaked into the lobby where Marius who is an IRC Op is sat and who has the power to remove a channel if it breaks any laws. Constant sex references breaks those laws.
