I was just thinking that these forums have become somewhat monotonous. I mean, it's basically the same stuff over and over and over again. Each week the SOTW is updated, some events occur and recaps are posted. Every once in a while someone leaves, there are frequent "Hello" posts and then some dram sprinkled on top.

I mean, I browse these forums for something to read while I'm taking a break, procrastinating or just resting after doing some hard work (hard work, yeah right). The thing is, there never really is anything to read about except the occasional argument between two people which usually gets locked or resolved quickly.

I was inspired by the whole RSC debate thing. I never got all that into it because it don't visit RSC as often as I used to, but had I, I'd have been posting away.

I'm not saying it has to be a debate, but something like that. Something that makes the forums more of a hangout kind of environment rather than a place to be updated.

I realize that this may sound very hypocritical because if this is implemented, it would also become one of those monotonous things which is updated periodically like everything else. The only distinction is that the topic is constantly changing so it's not always going to be ToG, or CWA or something like that. One week it might be the XBox360 vs. PS3 and the next it might be a debate on the topic of abortion (sorry if this offended anyone, it was the first controversial thing that popped into my mind.

In any case, I'm just saying add some other events that are forum related, rather than in-game related which we've got lots of already.

Some events could be:
- Debates
- Guess the clan member (I realize this is ongoing, but it's not really kept up to date)
- Sentence-by-sentence stories

Anything really.

Just a thought.

Hooray for another worthy suggestion by Colonel.
It's something I miss. Really interesting stuff, general spam...

Exactly. I mean, place this stuff in the HoR for all I care. Even that place is kind of desolate.

I'm not talking about loads and loads of threads about utter nonsense, but a sprinkle of those, and possibly some serious/interesting topics which could be stickied would be a good mix.

I'd be in support of an adult forum solely for verbal usage. No photos because I don't think this is the place for actual imagery, but possibly telling stories, fantasies or something along those lines could be worthwhile.

I don't know, we'd obviously have to either have an age restriction, which I wouldn't be fond of for the sake of the clan, or just have guidelines which would be strictly enforced in terms of content in a forum like that, that way everyone could be involved, while nobody gets into any trouble.

EDIT:

Personally, I do also. Not for the same reasons as you, but simply because it's something different than "Updated Attendance," or "F2P BH "Raid"." I mean those are important, but they are so constant that it's expected to see those.

You're not expecting people to rant about signatures (Sorry Wayne and Tabs, it's just the most recent issue, or I guess past issue) or about something else. I hate to say it, but goodbye topics are also a place where interesting things can be read. Sounds kind of morbid, I know, but it's come to the point were there isn't much interesting stuff going on here that anything interesting is good, regardless of where it's found.

You spoke my mind, and I probably wouldn't post anything because I didn't even think of it.

After I was away for a while, I kept coming back to the forum hoping to see dynamic changes, active discussion, new and interestnig ideas, but it was all so grey and dreary, you know, 'business as usual'. It seemed to be much more animate back in the old days, but it should be easy enough to turn it round.

Then, there's a compromise. Sure, drama is interesting and gets everyone excited, but it can damage the clan, and relationships within it. Its only bad when you view the bigger picture.

Debating could be a great idea. We have a lot of intelligent people in this clan, and everyone gives their own unique and interesting input. Many debates would be harmless (like, game consols as you say).

I would avoid things like religion because its a heated debate. Seeing as there's no solution because there's little conceivable evidence, the debate never ends and relationships can deteriorate. Abortion may be another. Care should be taken to predict the outcome of each debate.

But definitely, a good idea to kickstart the 'colours' of the clan again. Guess the clan member and sentence-by-setnence also work well. There's many more - elbow typing, word-by-word, all that sort of thing.

Given the chance, I'm sure I could start a few threads that will get the ball rolling. smile.gif

Hey, it's what I do. I aim to please. Just say the word and I'll spam the living hell out of these forums with things that are on my mind...both good and bad so be careful what you wish for. wink.gif

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.

Either case is a failure of leadership.”

I think a debate forum would be a lot of fun. I hardly ever have anything to say beyond a sentence on here that someone else already hasn't posted.
