Sygeligs Application System

1.1 Intoduction

My idea to the application manager is a new way of keeping track on the new members of the Wilderness Guardians. The Idea is originally from my old clan, but with tweaks and some new add ons. It’s basically a form you fill out and post in a new forum ONLY for highly ranked and the application manager. In this way you can easily see how the specific member is doing. The process will start the day the member is accepted. The manager posts this in his //New Member Tracking Forum// forum, and when the member has completed 50% (one week) of his trial period, his report will be updated, and already after one week we’ll be able to see how he/she is doing.

1.2 The report

The form will not be very long nor informative. But it’ll basically tell you when the specific person joined, what sector he joined, what time zone he/she is, how many events he/she has been attending etc. This form is filled by the application manager, and will be checked 2 times. First time after one week. The 2nd will be checked on his 14’th day of Trial membership. Typically the day he/she will be applying for full membership. The form looks like this:

QUOTE

Rs Name:
Superkiller1481

Date of joining:
2-2-08

Timezone:
GMT (Europe)

Mentor:
Sygelig

(( THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE; BUT WILL WORK THE SAME WAY))

QUOTE
Activity Check =1

Numbers of events attended so far (Must be proven by screenshots by the trial member):
3=
2 Community, 1 Skills event

Number of posts:
24

Conclusion on member after one week:
He is very active. If this activity continues, he’ll be accepted into WG as fully fledged member when applying.

(( THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE; BUT WILL WORK THE SAME WAY))

QUOTE
Activity Check =2

Numbers of events attended so far (Must be proven by screenshots by the trial member)
4=
2 Community, 2 skills (3 (Previous week + 4 this week = 7 events attended)

Conclusion: He’s definitely ready to become a fully fledged member according to his activity the past two weeks. His activity will now be checked by the temporarily activity checks done by Tertiary leaders or Councils.

(( THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE; BUT WILL WORK THE SAME WAY))

1.3 the forum

Now, the forum I’ve thought about will work in almost the same way as the academies. The only slight change is, this forum is only used by the application managers to make a topic with the name of the specific trial member. In this topic, the form which will be filled out in, will be posted. In this way, all members who have got access to the forums will be able to keep track of the member. The mentor will be able to direct the member through his topic, and tell him what he needs and what he can do better in order to complete his trial period the best way.

I want this forum only to be reviewed by Councils, Leaders, Elite, Higher and guardians. Why? Because trial members need to prove themselves worthy, instead of hunting those goals which is required for them to join. Example. If you knew you needed 50 posts to join, you would spam. And when you’re done spamming your goal to be achieved, you’ll be relaxing and not really caring of you loyalty towards WG. This forum will be made to record them without them knowing we’re doing it.

1.4 What this requires from Trial members

Well, in general I suggest that we encourage ALL members and new members to take a screenshot of all the events they've been attending. It's easy enough to tell others that you've been attending certain events without even being there. I think in order to go from one rank to another, you need to be able to prove yourself worthy (AND NOT FROM THE ATTENDANCE PICTURES)

But I think this can happen. If we from day 1 tell them that this is important. It'll be alot easier to. Also another great solution for the trials to show how much they'll do to become a fully fledged Wilderness Guardian.

1.5 My conclusion

This solution is absolutely one of the most effective I’ve ever experienced. And I’d love to share it with WG, and since I am not sure whether we have a system similar to this, I wanted to show you my ultimate contribution to the application manager rank. This system will require more work for the application manager, but I honestly don’t consider this a problem, since I am sure that all who will be granted this rank, will be doing anything to honour this rank. That’s the goal nevertheless. It will be easy to keep track of the progress the trial member is doing in WG. And if the person isn’t doing well, we know who to sweep at activity checks instead of finding them ourselves. It’s a great opportunity for Trial members to prove themselves without knowing it.

What do you think of the idea?

Dallar

We shouldn't have to keep trial members on a leash.
It's either be active or gtfo.

Your method sounds great...
....for 1 person.
Imagine doing that for multiple people at once.
I really could care less if Bob and Joe go to no events, then they're not getting accepted. Following someones trial seems a bit complicated.

Trust me, as an application manager, there is SOOO much work to do for one person. It's a minimal 10 minutes a person. This just adds unecessary work to the list.

We have mentors already who are supposed to watch over them, anyways.

I like the idea, simply love it. What I'm not sure about is the Application Manager's ability to add that to his full list of roles and chores to do for the clan.

you may want to get the job to see how hard it is and experience it before you add on more work....

If this was to happen, I don't think this all would be assigned to one or only two people. Good idea though, lets see how it plays out.

It's a good suggestion and that's some nice effort put into explaining your idea. Thing is, I'm not too sure how much work App Managers need to cope with but like Randy said, I guess there's really a lot.

I feel, so as not to waste this idea, maybe we can incorporate it in another way.. By that, I mean we could do this to keep track of Trial Members, but put the responsibility on their respective mentors instead.

That'd take time, and why should Tertiary / council members check their activity when it's application managers job?
This will put up alot of work for Application Managers, and if they forget about doing it our FA's will feel left out , which may happen.

I don't really think this is needed and it will take alot of time.
The isn't needed, because when you look on when they joined, you can easily look to the right or just by clicking on application/introduction and also, typing their post account in the forum when you have their post account just next to their profile.

Good thought.

It's easy to keep track of with out the work of a new forum for it.

You can find out all of His or Her info on their Application and Intro.
The rest you can keep track of by Attendance Screenshots.

There's no need to complicate it.

If a Mentor is assigned, they can let Council know via PM if anything is wrong with the new member.

You dont have to keep an update on them because they are doing what's required, it's a standard, only let someone know if they're doing something under the requirements.

Somone should not be praised for doing what is the standard for them, only if they go above and beyond it.

Good idea, but it would tke to much time on top of everything else an app manager has to do.
