k well here is the story

my school is about to start to pick school captains, and right now im looking second favourite for captain

there is a kid who is a total nerd, studies like everyday and only studies, even at lunch. but it pays off, a+'s coming out of his ass

yea so this kid is a total brainiac, and well, im smart, prob smartest at maths, but this kid is good all round, and a teachers pet

BUT

he cant speak in public

so if i want to beat him, i will have to kick ass in my speech

and i r uber bad at writing speeches, but i can deliver them well.

so all i ask is you maybe come up with a few lines or even a paragraph, and i can put them together to make one great speech

OR if you have a speech already, copy paste it hash.png

thanks for the help guys, it means ALOT, and my friends are counting on it, because if this smart kid gets captain, then the school will use it to get what they want, if i get captain, the students will have a say.

EDIT: some links if you want to know some stuff about the school

This is my campus information.

My school's homepage

ok so if you want to know information, my campus is lakeview

k thanks guys

Win.

I advise watching some speeches from great political leaders and mimicking them.

Is it like voted by the general school, or chosen by teachers?

If it's voted, you'll have to be relaxed, chilled out etc. Be confident but not desperate. Keep looking around at people, and talk to them as people instead of as a group.

Unless i know more about how it works, I wouldnt know what sort of thing you'd have to say tongue.gif

Just don't read off a sheet. Memorise if possible but if not have cue-cards. Makes all the difference, (I do debating as a sport at school). Make sure you connect with the audience, (so if it's about teachers try joking about bad kids, provided they have a sense of humour), and try not to be too full of yourself.

Well, since you're asking for lines and an actual speech we'd need to know several things:

- the role of the captain
- have you done any campaigning
- what are the main concerns among the students?
- current school-wide problems the teachers might be addressing themselves

Firstly, you want to appeal to the people you're talking to. Since they're your age, you probably don't want to use high vocabulary words (unless your school is like an advanced private school, in which case use of those types of words may be natural). Make sure to look around and use your hands. DO NOT just keep your hands at your side. Point and use them to help make what you're saying look more interesting. Be as relaxed as possible, but also proper, because you don't want to many phrases like "um," "well," or "and yeah."

When coming up with stuff to say, firstly address that you're actually going to do the job, and not just do what you want. So if homework is a huge problem, say you'll do your best to organize a system where teachers have to put up when they're giving homework, and estimated times for how long each assignment should be. That way you're not going home with 5+ hours every night, but more like 2.5-3.

Also, always talk about events. Make sure to talk about how you'll try to set up school events and trips.

Also, fight for the second speech as hard as you can, that way if he says something you think is good, you can use it also.

Hope that helps.

Watch some of Elias recruiting videos. You might be able to use some of the format he did. His videos are geared to getting people to join the clan. So you can adapt the speech to have them join your team as president. This is a lil more your age lvl. I don't know that a Bill Clinton speech would be to helpful.

Start out with a friendly intro of who you are and how you wish to relate to them. Making a statement about how or why you will be a great choice for the president. This is the time to get their attention so you have to be interesting and maybe add a lil humor.

Next most important part is how you end the speech. Mostly people remember the beginning and end. We tend to daydream in the middle of stuff.

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.
They have either lost confidence that you can help them
or concluded that you do not care.
Either case is a failure of leadership.”

Give examples of how you would be better than your nerdy opponent. Tell them that you have more connection with the students and have the greater influence rather than the other guy who just sits and studies. Make sure that you get your point across that you know problems that you have to face, you know how to talk to your peers, and that you know what the school needs to become better.

When it comes to actually writing it, you should do at least 2 or 3 drafts before you final one. Go ahead and write out a sloppy first draft, print it out, and then sit down with a pen and revise it. Retype it and in that process rephrase things and add things that you think that may be needed. Repeat the process until necessary, or until you feel like you have the stronger speech.
