We're writing a topic paper in Mythology, and one of the topic questions happens to be this:

We have read and /or heard various accounts of the creation of the physical world we live in. If you were the sage responsible for the myths of a new society, how would you explain creation? Either write your myth, or explain what elements you would take from the oriental myths we have read.

Oh I'm gonna have fun. Submit ideas n such here, I'll need all I can get.

After 30 minutes of writing I got this:

Personally I believe that all creation stories, including those of religious and scientific backgrounds, are currently no more than theories and stories. I also believe that we may never know exactly how or why we got here, but that we are all here now, and we should work together for a better tomorrow regardless of our “creation”. That point aside, I have several theories of how the idea of creation came into being itself, starting with the earliest humans and civilizations.
If you were alone with your small group of primitive humans, possibly millions of years ago, what would you think of all the wondrous sights around you? How could you possibly explain, without the scientific knowledge that we have today, what the sun, moon, and stars did up in the sky? How could you know what fire was made of, or why the seasons changed, or how the day turned into night? Simply put, you couldn’t. So what did these primitive people do, if to do nothing more than try and provide a shroud of security and understanding to their undeveloped minds? They tried to explain these phenomena in any way that they could imagine, because that was all they had to work with. They began to craft stories to deal with each and every piece of the world that they didn’t understand in order to give some sort of meaning to it, and also to give them the sense that they were in control of their environment to some extent. These stories gave roles to each phenomenon of nature, and often personified many objects and events. The sun, the moon, the sky, the Earth, the constellations, the day and night, the seasons, the elements, and many more natural aspects of the world were given shape as Gods, Goddesses, or Heroes of some kind in these mythological stories. For example, Helios in Greek mythology was the God responsible for pulling the Sun across the sky in his golden chariot, thus causing the phenomenon of daylight. In Egyptian mythology, Horus defeated Set and brought light to the people of the Earth each day. There are countless other personifications such as these throughout myths and legends of all cultures and religions. Keep in mind one thing: the Egyptians and Greeks both thought that their Gods were real, just as we do today, even though today we pass off their religions as nothing more than stories. In terms of creation, however, there is normally one God, usually seen as the “God King” or “God of Gods” that was the creator of all the rest, and he, or she, is often thought to be related to the Sun. Why could this be? I believe this is because the Sun is by far the most important and noticeable object from any point on the Earth throughout each day, and these early humans surely noticed that it was greater than all the other phenomena around them. The rising of the Sun signaled the beginning of each day, it kept crops growing, it brought warmth and light to all life on Earth, and above all else, it’s big and shiny! When the humans of millennia ago saw this huge glowing orb in the sky, they must have been in absolute awe of it, and quickly realized that it was the most important aspect of nature, thus giving it a status above and beyond anything else they could imagine. Many religions across the globe have openly worshipped the Sun for these exact reasons, but countless more seem to worship the Sun under other names, such as Horus or Helios as mentioned before. My personal belief is that many, if not all of these myths and stories grew through society to such a point that everyone knew them, and honestly believed them. This is the point at which a myth becomes a religion.
This process of storytelling continues to grow to this day, fueling the minds of youth and adults all around the world, but also causing separate ideals to be taught in different areas of the world, leading to conflicts and disagreement. My point here is that I believe all mythological stories to spawn from the same explanations that the primitive people of centuries ago created to try and sustain a sense of control and understanding in their environment, when they really had none to begin with. The only question is this: now that we have the understanding of our world and our place in it due to science, why do we still have the stories except for moral values and entertainment? Why must we fight over our different beliefs when we now know that we all come from the same source? I suppose that’s an argument for another time, but all in all, these are simply my beliefs about the beliefs of everyone else.

To answer the question more directly, I would most likely do just as the people of past millennia have done. I would view the natural world around me and attempt to explain how it all came to be by using phenomena such as the many mentioned before. With no science to back it up there is really little more you could do at such an early point in history.

It's not bad, i can't change your views but i can help you with grammer and the likes. To being with you have:
"For example, Helios in Greek mythology was the God "
Try and use words other than For example, try something like maybe:
"As seen in ancient Greek mythology, Helios was ....."
You are using firt person "I" So try not to make it formal by using For example. (it also just looks lower class, lower grade)

CHRISTIANITY - The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense.

Anyway, I turned it in like 10 mins after I wrote so I don't really know why I posted here in the first place lol. It's for a mythology class, NOT an english class, so grammar is pointless anyway. I think it'll either get me a good grade or have the teacher hate me forever, depending on her views. tongue.gif I DID kinda just try and disprove all major religions and myths after all. wink.gif
