Catchy title yes?
Caught your attention?

Ok basically I'm writing a piece based on a medieval battle.
It's called "Call To Arms"

And yes, it's REALLY out there.
It's got orchestra and drum kit.
But its really grotesque.
I want to portray the brutality of war.

And I'm about 1/6 finished.
Tell me what you think.

http://media.putfile.com/Call-To-Arms-75-17

It's only 1:20 so I'd appreciate if you took the time to hear it.

I like it. The drums are very effective in terms of portraying burtality. The ending of this portion is amazing. I especially like the part where the drums stop and there is that high note. In terms of battle it kind of represents how nothing is constant and anything is possible.

Towards the beginning though, there is this instrument that comes in with the drum. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I don't think it fits. One time it's like a low note, then the same kind of instrument but then the bit is broken up. It's hard to explain, and will probably be harder to understand, but it's towards the very beginning.

Other than that I like it.

EDIT:

LMFAO. I saw the new title and was like "When the hell did I post on that topic?"

I like it but i think the keyboard sounds are a bit to electronic. Well i think it's a keyboard. If your trying to make a medievil vibe it would prolly be an idea to de-electronic it lol I prolly make no sense.

Otherwise i really like it and can't wait for the full piece.

Its a notation program.
Its not even close to how it would sound for real.

...I know that melody, I can't remember what song I've possibly heard it in.

If you're looking for some inspiration, one metal band does songs on epic battles very well. Iron Maiden.

They are also amazing with harmonizing the guitars. I think there's a chance you could take away something from them.

Their song Paschendale has an orchestra in the background.

There's a whole bunch of them, easy to tell from the titles too:
Run to the Hills: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZlDZPYzfm4

They're all just really epic songs. Let me know what you think.

I would appreciate it if you changed the topic title. You just want people to come and listen to this stuff so you want to use a "catchy" title. Please refrain from doing so in the future. Just tell people what it is if you're not ashamed of it.

No, I'm not changing a thing.

Sooth, it may have subconsciously sunk in lol.
But that said, have a listen to the finished thing.
Much better than RS music.
Shame about the bad computer sounds.
