Well, I have my own opinion, but I'll post that later. Try this:

Of the two options, which first resonates with you? After reading the prompt, which one pops out at you first? Start brainstorming about that one then. The second you make that connection, you KNOW there is something that is making you think that. So you already know you've got stuff to write about, it's a matter of finding it.

My personal opinion?

Me:

Memories are far more important than body. Our body can be manipulated, but our memories are forever, they tell the story of our lives. Memories require no maintenance, no preparation or restoration, they are just there with us and are accessible no matter the situation. Memories influence how and why we make decisions - making us who we are.

Right there, I've set up a standard 5-paragraph essay:
- Intro: I just wrote it
- Body 1: Body can be manipulated, but memories are forever (argue how they're forever and why manipulation is not as valuable, or a con)
- Body 2: No restoration, maintenance - this is a more literal, concrete reason (I'm assuming you get the connection I'm making)
Body 3: They make us who we are
Conclusion: Summarize everything shortly. Tie it all together in a neat little bow.

Throughout the essay, make slight hints as to how someone might argue the other point (body > memories) but the quickly shoot it down (however, but).

Hope that helps a little.

I ask that you don't actually use the paragraph I provided.

colonel, I'm not sure how long 1000 words would be, but you might have to add a few more body paragraphs, depending on how much in depth you go with each idea.

I'd also say mind, but it should be your own personal opinion. As Colonel said, brainstorm yourself. The best essay you can possibly write will be about whichever one you believe in, not whichever one we believe in.

That being said, I think memories are more important. Your memories, which can be analogized (is that a word) to your brain, is always with you. As long as you have that, you're good. In my opinion, the worst thing possible would be to loose your memories. As you age, your body grows weaker, but as long as you're mentally good, thats the most important thing.

I know for 1,000 words you'd need more body paragraphs, but that was just an example introduction for a standard 5-paragraph essay which is usually about 1-1.5 pages and about 6-700 words.

You're looking at at least 2, if not more pages with about 2-3 more body paragraphs.

Good luck.

If you can get your point across in 600-700 words and the teacher/prof asks for 1000, they usually will not care...from what i've seen in university anyways.
