Anyone else from the US get their PSAT scores back today? (Only if you're a sophmore or junior).

I didn't do too well myself. I'm not good at those kinds of standardized tests, and the test was wayyy harder this year than past years, as shown by the much lower scores to get the same percentile. As for myself, I got 97th percentile, but got a 202 mad.gif

I have no clue what I got, but I did take it. I'll make sure I tell you my score when I get it though.

However, I think I did decent.

202 is actually quite good. It's on a scaled down scale, so instead of the max in each section being 800, it's 80. The total comes to 240 instead of 2400. So a 202 is a 2020 I think, which is a very good score.

I'm personally aiming for a 2000 for the SAT this Saturday.

LOL @ the american school system.

Canada, we have just our high school grades to get into university. Little less stressful than some stupid test.

I'm curious though to see just how difficult an SAT is. If anyone has a link to practice tests or something, pass it over and I'll take a look after my week of hell.

5 exams in 7 days.

Ha, nice guys. Thanks for sharing your scores.

Firstly, David (Colonel) is right. On the PSAT, the number is 10 times less, so a 202 generally means about a 2020 on the normal SAT.

Pyro, I'm a bit dissapointed with the score though because I come from a smart school in a smart state. My parents are asian (lol), my brother got around a 217, think it was 98th percentile, and just missed National Merit Semifinalist (he was National Merit Commended though).

I'm not saying that this score was completely horrible though, as I totally messed up last year, got 175 and 85th percentile blink.gif I already got a 2060 on my SATs, so I was at least hoping for that much, but 202 is decently close.

And just to show off the crazy competitiveness of my school sad.gif I know 5 juniors, and I'm sure theres more, that scored 225 or higher, which is getting them a National Merit Scholarship blink.gif And I doubt I'm ranked top 10 in my class, hopefully I'll be in the top 20.

Oh, Pyro, someone in my school got a 240 on it. And a different person got a 240 on it last year and a 237 on it this year. And a third person got a 2400 on his SATs. Lol, my year, and my school, is kinda good

EDIT: Sorry for bitching so much, just got on a little rant. :$

whoa mango geez lol. thats insane, i wish i could attend a school with a rep like that. im basically in public school in an average city in Mass. my school is literally 80% gangsters meaning they will die soon anyways so they might as well not even come. so im in the minority

Either way, you still did well on the test, nice work =)

What he said

Seriously, if I had a 202 I'd be freaking out. I'm just aiming for an 180+ this year. I only got 148 last year. I get my results back on Wednesday.

Yeah, your results are fine dude.

I can be the same way to sometimes when I have a personal goal. My most recent SAT Reasoning results were 640 Math and Writing and 580 Reading coming to a 1860 total, which is on the whole a good score. I was aiming for 2000 though, so when I saw my scores I was unhappy with myself. I had people telling me that they'd be happy to get my score and there I was bitching about it.

Still though, nothing to worry about. The PSAT is a really BAD way to judge how you'll do on the SAT, which is really what matters. Just focus on that.

I highly recommend preparing for the SAT early and taking it as early as you can, and multiple times. Usually the first is just to get a hang of the test, and see how things go. The second is where you usually get serious and 3rd-4th time is where you really crack down.

Good luck with all that dude. You'll be fine.

You might also want to look into SAT IIs, some colleges require them, mostly the ones with a little more reputation.

sorry but if you are going to go to a school like that its a waste of time.
Just take a normal sat. Go to a college that doesn't require them the 1st year. Then transfer to another.

Most of the time its just one of those things for new people but if you go to school for a year already, most of that stuff isn't needed.

I took the SAT II for bio last year. Got a 670 on it lol.
My brother took the Spanish one and math (precal) one as well and he got a 790 on Spanish, 760 on math. And i'm better at both subjects than him...so hopefully i get a perfect 800 hash.pnghash.pnghash.png

I suck at reasoning tests though. I always fail any english type tests. I just can't do them lol.
I get my PSAT back soon though I hope.

I took the PSAT, but I haven't gotten my scores back yet. My Guidance Councilor has them, and every time I go to her office she's either in a meeting with some other student, or she's not there. Kind of gets me aggravated.

I doubt I did anywhere near as good as Mango did, but I don't think I did poorly. I guess I'll just have to see in the future.

By the way Fruitqueer, stop complaining about getting a 2020, if I had a 2020, I'd go suck my own dick. Don't ask me how, but I'd manage it.

yeah. I know I'm going to take Chem and Math after this year. Already took physics at the end of last year and got a 750 intro.gif

Depending on what colleges you're looking at, they may or may not require them, but if you're good at the subject, it can't hurt to have em tongue.gif

And thanks for the kind replies, sorry for bitching about my score angryhahs.gif.png Anyone else care to share their scores? (Once they get them of course tongue.gif ). And good luck, for those who still haven't gotten them.

Got mine today, 168. 79th percentile, so I guess I did good in comparison to others in my school. One of my friends is in the 100th percentile with a 218, I don't know how she does it.

I got a 228 when I took it a couple years ago as a Junior. National Merit doesn't pay too much here at UF, but cash is cash.

Impossible.

100th percentile means that you're better than 100% of all the juniors taking it. With a 218, thats not happening, and even if someone got a 240, they'll still be 99th percentile, as others also got 240 and that person cannot be better than him/herself.

And you can see that by looking, if someone you know got an 80 on a section, they still receive 99th percentile.

Plus, I looked at a person who got a 231, and he was 99th percentile. And I hate him so much tongue.gif

EDIT: Btw, good job Angus happy.gif Its true, any scholarship is better than no scholarship. Plus, its a prestigious award to get.

Yeah, so. I got a 161(I think? I just took the 0 off my 1,610. Since I think that's what you guys are doing.) I don't really care all that much. Getting above a 200 would be great, sure. But that's beyond my ability. I simply don't care enough to be able to get that high. So I'm content with my score.
