1.73GHz processor is pretty crap for running Vista.

But I doubt that's the problem. I had my xp freezing all the time, and the cause was my processor was overheating, because my CPU fan wasn't working right. Check to see if that might be the problem.

what's that? vista has issues? WOW I never saw that coming.

1. Reformat or destroy pc.
2. Install XP or buy new PC, depending on option 1.
3. Burn vista.
4. ???
5. Profit!!

Anyone using an apple computer needs to die... One of your major problems is Ram.... Vista eats ram... 1 gig is not near enough... get at least one more gig...

If it is still under warranty then you can call the tech support line and ask what would void the warranty. Most allow for simple part replacements.

Sorry, but Intel based Macs are very nice computers, if you are willing to spend the extra money. I don't own one myself, BTW, and don't plan to either(Because, I am a cheapskate tongue.gif)

I am assuming that the processor is a 1.75GHZ dual-core or quad-core, because a single core processor of that speed wouldn't run Vista even decently.

I suggest reinstalling Vista - As you are on a laptop, use the restore disk or utility that came with it.
That is the simplest option. The best option is to upgrade to XP(or linux, but I don't think that would be something you would want to do).

OSX can now read and write to NTFS drives. That's pretty much as close to windows as you want to get with apple. OSX also fully supports UNIX since well it's built on UNIX. Any hardware peripheral that any of my friends have that work on PC work on a Mac.

The only difference really, is software I guess. Not too games for mac but you could just run windows in parallel with OSX to solve that. I would personally install windows just because of the simulation software I need for university and stuff. But there's hope. I noticed that MatLab has releases for Mac OSX with intel chip sets.

My next laptop might be a macbook. We'll see though. Deffinitely looking for something smaller than the thing I have now and macbooks fit the built that I want.

PS - linux is an adventure. Really cool world to get into IF you have the time.

What ranma said is pritty much spot on, Vista chews up alot of RAM if you dont wanna up grade your computer you should really reformat it and run XP, it'll be tonns quicker and should fix the freezing. It sounds like your system is getting fairly dated though(Which seems to happen quickly with computers) it might just be the age of some of the components. If its loading the desktop though there shouldnt really be anything wrong hardware wise, id just try using Xp. Goodluck...computers are a bitch.

Edit: soz, didnt see last post.
