 Possible way to encourage training.

I've also been thinking about a way to encourage training combat. Yes, not everyone enjoys it, not everyone will give this event their all, but for some it might be what they need.

Some people want recognition for their hard work. An underbanner or something like that. Something to boast. I don't know, something.

What I propose is a sort of Pro Silentium thing where for a set amount of time, specific skills are being targeted. This would be more of a crash course thing though. Instead of one month of attack, it'd be a week.

Also, it wouldn't just be a free for all, we could make it teams or races between two people.

This would be to make it a little fun.

Basically have teams or pairs race against each other each week trying to get as much experience as they can. Obviously this is more combat skill oriented, but like Pro Silentium we had Agility, Ranged, Magic, and Prayer as sub categories to the main Attack, Strength, Defense and Hitpoints skills.

Each week, the top three teams/pairs would be given an underbanner or something like that, or an in-game reward and the next set of skills would be underway.

It'd be quick. It'd be fun.

We could have sign-ups so that people aren't put into a team when they know they won't participate and this hold their team back. I don't know.

We could also add a tripple attendance bonus for the top three teams that want the extra rewards. I'm literally grasping at straws here.

But I also don't see any harm with this, I figure it could be totally optional. It just though of all the times I've seen people recommend racing friends to make training faster and this way the entire clan could be involved.

Sounds fun actually. I didn't like Pro Silentium because it was so long but a week would be perfect.

Kind of yeah, but this way it adds that flare of competition that isn't really competition. It's basically a sprint.

Sounds good, it could possibly be SOTW 2: Combat skills while the original is kept for normal skills

Well, let me ask you this. If you're in a basketball game and you score 30 points while your teammate scores 10, does the person who scored only 10 not get the reward for winning the game?

It's not that some people want it, some people NEED it. There's a big difference Omar.

I train at my own pace though, and not at some one else's.

Of course, which is why I'm debating on whether or not to make it all clan inclusive, or just let people decide on whether or not they want to join in.

Omar, don't think of it as an academy. Think of it simply as a race against some friends to see who can gather together the most experience.

Another competetion yeah thats smart but with a better reward now.

Sorry for the short post before, I was in Math class and didn't want my teacher to see what I was doing.

In any case, on the question of teams and how we would conduct it, I find it's very complicated.

Using Tabs as an example (don't take offense please), she has said time and time again she doesn't like to train combat. So obviously if she were in a team, she'd hold the team back, and that wouldn't be fair to that team.

If we allow people to make their own teams, or lets say have a sign-up list and then from that the Council creates the teams (could be a way of building friendships as well) then it'll just be the same people that want this kind of thing.

The goal is to try and get some, obviously not all, of the people that don't yet have the motivation to train combat to go and train combat. Some people like Tabs may just not budge (again, not meant as an insult, just you're a good example of someone who doesn't want to), but maybe some will say "All right, I'll do it," for whatever reason we got them hooked on.

I honestly don't see any way this could harm us. We could start easy by just letting people choose their teams, and see how it works. If it's any good we could do it again another time.

That's the idea. This is more about making training fun and less of a task than about winning. The whole reward and recognition thing is for the people that feed of that kind of stuff.

I don't take offense to it. I am a good example of those points. I happen to do a lot of slayer, because I want summon and slayer up. But trying to force me to train combat will get you nothing except me pissed off at you.

If you really want to do a competition though, here's an idea. Judge them by slayer, and not just by cmb xp. Any idiot can do bandits. And higher lvls will chase lower lvls away. So base it on a skill for better comparison.

I can never really tell who's been training unless I notice a massive increase in their combat level.
You guys should really boast more in irc hash.png
