Yes, the majority of this topic is quoted from Abs, because I could not say it any better myself

We're looking for another General Council member to fill the sixth spot on the team.

Cope under pressure and stress
Would not mind spending 4-5 Hours doing forum work (For example, setting up a training programme and so on)
Would know how to settle disputes between 2 or more members
Would ALWAYS reply to EVERY pm or other means of communication from members

The importance of the Council Rank

You might think "Yeah, I'm prepared for this" - Heck, So did I, but I really had no clue what I was really in store for me. Council Rank is the ultimate test, if you don't do well at it, you will be criticised by the clan whether you like it or not, you will have to be able to withstand that criticism and act positively to it. Council Members make mistakes, Primary Leaders make mistakes, but they are ordinary human beings just like yourself, they will learn from mistakes. But many people don't understand the concept, which is exactly why the pressure mounts & mounts on a Council Member.

I'm going to quote Elias from old forums:

But it is hard for council members to do anything.
We are labouring and we need plenty of breaks.
Sure you may say nothing is being done.
It's REALLY that bad. We just have to keep our workload small.
Otherwise WG gets too stressful.
This is one of the reasons many council members leave.
They don't realise how stressful it gets.

IF YOU WANT THIS JOB, YOU REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A DEEP URGE FOR IT.
So please, before you apply, think VERY HARD.
There is a reason council members are temporary.
When you are in the council, it isn't a lot of fun.
People start questioning what's the point of playing RS if it's not fun.
To be a long lasting member, think of Dorcha3377.
She does it because she loves us. She loves what we're all about.
You need that. You have to draw your happiness from the happiness of WG.
Nothing can prepare you for it.
You may think you know how it's like, but you don't.
You can only understand once you are in the council.

So when you apply, realize that you may be about to suffer.

Ok, if you were not put off by any of the warnings above, and if you think you have the criteria I have provided, you may apply, as long as you have:

-Higher Guardian+
-6 Months minimum in Wg (The day since your application got accepted)

Below is the Council form, I'll quote what Abs said on the last election:

A few things you have to note:

-When you decide to resign from Council, you must give us a two weeks notice, and you cannot leave earlier, you must understand that if you leave earlier, you will be banned and added to the Hall of Shame
-The ending date for applications is Monday 2rd February 2009.

Changed it to higher guardian+ due to low number of elite guardians. On top of this, there is still a 6 month+ requirement.

Application for Council

I have been in WG for quite a long time now, I sticked through the good and bad, the worst and the best. I believe I'm a calm person who knows when to be serious and when to have some giggles. I have also been told by quite a lot of people that I'm a good listener and I know what our members want.

I however haven't had previous experiences with the Mod CP and the Admin CP, but I'm a quick learner so surely that won't be a problem. No one's perfect, but they can get closer to perfection by learning

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Not at all! There's nothing upcoming that could prevent me from actively helping the clan out. Well, apart from tuesday night, Leanne's time

4. Why are you applying for council?

The reason about me applying for council is because I believe I have something new to offer to the table, a fresh amount of ideas that when mixed together, would result in what I call: 'Recipe for Success'.
I believe I also have the following traits, which helps out with my job as a council should I get accepted:

I'm quite opinionated on matters, but I know when to stand down, especially when I'm wrong.
I believe I have a relaxed attitude towards people, but I take decisive action depending on the situation when people get out of line.
I have a relaxed attitude, which helps when issues arise, whether that involves WG or involves Real Life.
I have been in contact with some members and I know what concerns them, so if I get accepted I'll be taking action to resolve such issues.
I am a non-biased person, I don't take action unless I'm certain that it my action is clearly unbiased.

I have other traits, some of which I don't know, because it's very hard for a human being to describe himself properly

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

I believe WG needs to have a fresh look at things, I believe we're in need of someone to bring new cards to the playing table. For instance, activity, that issue is of great concern to me and I believe we need to something about it, and I happen to have quite a few ideas that would help out greatly in resolving these issues.

I also believe we need to work on our recruitment as well, we need more loyal active members. This would not only make our communication methods more active, but also more friendly and more variety in topics! This would also help out the clan in Regular event attendance, and Raids, wars and PKRI's attendance. All without super-preformance by members. I have certain ideas that when put to use, would improve our recruitment greatly.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

It's not levels, that's for certain, but my experience in the knowledge of WG. I believe I have shown true dedication through-out the time I spent here. I believe I am mature, sensible, and have a very relaxed attitude. I have quite a few ideas which will hopefully put WG back to the top. Not in Combat, but in all aspects of Community.

I believe I will bring WG forward, looking back at the past. Not for regret or memories, but to learn from our best times and moments and use them in improving the future of our clan!
I also am not shy and I'm not afraid to talk in TS, Most of those who are active in the Weekly TS meetings could testify that I always have something to say, regarding every subject, and I strive to make myself heard over such subjects.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

I would say, my low combat level. I'll be honest, I'm not the best in RuneScape and I know a lot of you are higher levels. But this has nothing to do with my combat level, as I am not applying to be a warlord. I have had constant real life experiences that made me look into WG in a different light.

8. Is there anything else you would like to say?

Nope

Although I tried to summarize this so I get to the point and not bore you, so forgive me if I did

9. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Of course, I have been in the clan for a long time so IF (and that's if) I resign, surely I won't have a problem with providing a 2 week notice.
