Can members please take some of the irc conversations less seriously. alot of the time gmters are just having a laugh and i know alot of other countries dont get out sense of humour but please for example rene and jayson were talking about afk orks at gwd, i joked that id get them killed, like i would be arsed to hope 40+ worlds..., it was a joke yet people took it seriously. and most of the time stuff i say on irc isnt serious so dont take it as so, if ppl did this there would be less e drama.

This is very true, but sadly nothing will stop it. It's just one of those things. No matter what someone will always take what you say as something else, either by choice or they just feel it's inappropriate.

This is the way it is in the real world also. There are some people that can't take a joke.

There have been people that have known me for 2-3 years, that know my sense of humor (vulgar) but still take the things I say seriously, when I'm obviously joking. I say "Ugh, I hate you!" but never mean it, yet people talk to me as if I'm unloading some pent up anger.

It's something that has to change but never will. I do agree with everything Olly has said though.

If you're one of the people that does take things way to seriously try to lighten up. If you're genuinely upset, talk to them in PM, and see if you can get it sorted. If you tell them it bothered you, but they say it was meant as a joke, just let them know your feelings and be sincere. No need to say things like "Dude, fucking stop, it's not funny," because that will get you NOWHERE. People don't respond the way you want them to when you talk to them like that.

Just be calm about it.

The problem behind this issue is actually really simple.

Some people don't know you enough to know you're joking.

A lot of us just have a group of 10 really good friends or so, and stick with that, we need to branch out more.

In most cases yes, but sometimes even if you know the guy well and joke around with him, they don't always accept it, sometimes it's the person's personality that can cause this problem, not his relationship with the person joking.

That is true yes, but I do believe if everyone at least tried to get to know a few more of their clanmates, it could very well reduce the amount of mistaken meaning occurances.

Perhaps if you don't want drama you shouldn't say stuff that you think people might take too serious? (not a flame)

Yes, but most of the time some joke is said that is SO obvious it's a joke, but people make a big deal out of it intentionally, happened to myself, Olly, and a lot of others really often.

It's understandable if people get pissed off by a lame joke from someone they don't know, but sometimes it's an OK (As in, not really offensive) joke with a guy you DO know and you make one big deal out of it, when that happens quite often then the guy has some serious issues and really needs to lighten up.

I don't think anyone would be serious about killing their clan mates unless there is serious beef between them xD

There are some issue's that you should learn not to joke about.

Above all if it is something that had been a topic of discussion not too long ago in the clan I find it odd how you're surprised that someone might take your joke wrongly.

The whole process of getting to know someone is to learn what to joke about and when. Besides, some jokes just aren't funny.

im with the Big one.

People sometimes take jokes wayy to seriously, which is pathetic to be honest. Some people need to learn to just chill out, and relax, instead of always looking for confrontation.

Sometimes people say it's a joke when it wasn't really. Like the females of RS are all ugly homo men. That is offensive not very funny really. It may not of been said exactly like that but it wasn't funny either. I found that extremely rude talk.

Freedom of speech over the internet is srs biznus, leaders attempt to control what we say/do despite being culprits themselves.

In my opinion - If you don't like it, fuck off.
