You can calculate the price of making battlestaffs and sell on GE so you don't loose money. You can buy 100 battlestaffs per 3h i think. I'm doing water b staffs and 17k green d'hides.

It is also helpful to use varrock armour lvl 3 to buy staves from zaff, you make money while crafting them.
