The State of our Alliances

By George on 25/06/2010
Hey all,

I am writing this post to inform you all of the status of our current alliances in WG and the recent decisions that the staff have made regarding these alliances.

As of this week, we have decided to terminate the alliances between WG and TBE and TDM. As of last night these had both been carried out and discussion with the respective allied leaders has taken place.

This has been a decision long in the making and considerable thought has been put into it by every staff member and many members alike.

I am sure that most of you can guess the reasons for this, but for those of you who don't know, here is a brief summary:

1. Communication between the allied clans:
This has essentially completely broken down. TDM, for one, do not permit us to access their teamspeak and with their already limited use of IRC, communication between WG and TDM has been virtually non-existant recently.
The same is true of TBE, who, although possess a Teamspeak Server, rarely use it.

2. Raids:
Simply, TDM + TBE cannot uphold the standards that we currently expect from clans that we want to PK with us. There are RARELY attendees from either TDM or TBE, unlike our other allies such as The Sabres and Zero Tolerance who actually turn up and raid with us. It seems to us as if both clans have broken away from the PvP aspects of RuneScape completely and at a time when we are trying to improve our standing in the PvP world, we need alliances who share the same ambition.

3. Interaction between the Leadership:
Not only is there very little interaction between members of WG and these two clans, the interaction between the leadership of WG and TBE and TDM is virtually non-existent. The majority of our staff can barely name any TBE or TDM admins. Even the TBE and TDM diplomats, whose job it is to maintain a stable and healthy alliance, aren't that familiar with WG. I know this because I never see them hanging out with us at all - except for a forum post every now and then regarding an upcoming event.

We no longer have enough in common to make alliances with TBE or TDM work and that is the main reason why we have had to end the alliance.

The terminations were made honourably and in a dignified manner and emphasis was put upon the fact that there should be no bad feelings towards one another.

It is also important to note that this is not one-sided in anyway. It is WG's fault as much as it is TBE and TDMs and as such, we are going to do our best to really work hard with our continuing alliances of ZT + TS, in the hope of strengthening what large progress we have already made.

TBE + TDM are always welcome at our public events and of course in our IRC channel.

All of the allied forum accounts will be switched to clan friends, as will all of our allied accounts on the TBE + TDM forums.

I think i've covered it all, but if you have any questions, do post below or feel free to pm myself (who ended the TBE alliance) or Kcross (who ended the TDM alliance) or indeed any council member, or Gene, who were also very helpful in deciding what to do - thanks guys.

Sad to see alliances break apart, but you can't be allied to another clan if you barely know them anymore.

To be honest, i've never seen them raid with us, i didn't even know they were our allies.

Good riddance.

I knew that this was going to eventually come.

You all don't really have to downtalk them like that, they're still friends, ya'know?

^ exactly.
I still have friends in both clans and wish to remain friends with them.

There are no bad feelings between any of us three, so let's keep it as that.

George, what are the exact dates of the termination? Would it be today the 25th?

No hard feelings felt for sure, but honestly, I felt we were just beginning to start having too many alliances. :/

This is a good decision and I think still having them as clan friends is good. I really can't say anything bad about them. They have always been nice to WG.

TDM helped us a lot when we were having some trouble at one point in the last two years. They were great for raiding with us to add to ops.

I have made all the rank changes needed on our forum.

Sad to see long alliances part.
But it seems like it needed to be done.

At least it was ended on an amicable note, sad but happy.

Wasn't TBE a great pk clan?

You have only been here for 3 months, so you prob shouldn't just bad mouth our long term allies just because they went inactive

I haven't seen much of either clan... I think this was best for all of us.
