WG now, WG tomorrow

By Randy on 02/03/2009
After much discussion about changing the requirements, it seems the clan was tied between not and 105. We have decide to raise the requirements to 105 for three months. At the end of this time, depending on how it went, they will either remain the same or go back down. Anyone under 105 (F2P) has six weeks to train up or you will be placed on the Non-warring list.

What is the Non-warring list? The Non-warring list will be the members who no longer wish to participate in PvP events. However, on this list, you have no access to the war and PvP events forum, and you may not apply for any leadership positions. Also on this list will be Emeritus (no more honored emeritus!), but they WILL have access to the war forum.

Raids and wars will be mandatory (unless supplied with a valid excuse) for anyone on our normal member list. The catch is, there is no limit to how much you stay. You must come for as long as you can possibly stay, it shows respect, even if you can come for 15 minutes.

Please stock up on our ally's capes. TBE is team-40 and TDM is team-18. We plan on having lots of events with them which will require you to have their capes saved up. WG is going to become a dominant P2P clan once again. We plan on hitting up members raids and wars a lot more, with much more practice strategy training. For right now, all members are advised to stock up on P2P gear. Along with this, raid leaders and council will now be making sure that weekly raids take place and the turnouts increase. War skipping will be a thing of the past. WG will be getting our name out there, just give it time, every weekend from now on will have an evident improvement.

A special project that I'm working on which will later include the event leaders is the quality of events. I can promise you all that you will see some strange and out of the ordinary events in the future. Don't overlook them and think they won't work. I advise everyone to try them and broaden your horizons.

Elias has been working hard on the new recruitment movie. Here is a link..
http://www.wildernessguardians.com/misc/recruitmentpage.html
(put your mouse over Fally and Varrock) Every city in Runescape will have a special page showing what WG offers for that city. For example, castle wars at castle wars, Zombie at varrock, etc. The looking glass will bring up the wilderness (PvP) side of WG. The size of WG is expected to rapidly increase, we're hoping to double in 4-5 months.

Along with the new video will come the RSC recruitment team. We're looking for volunteers who can actively check the looking for clan section and post on their topics. The details of this job haven't been fully worked out yet, however drop me a PM if you're interested.

Some people have brought up some issues in our leadership. This will be strongly looked over. Apologies will be handed out, ways will be changed, etc.

Look, shit happens. Pick your heads up and realize that WG is stronger than it has ever been. Don't let a few people leaving get you down. WG still has a fabulous community, people come and go, but the environment stays the same. We will get over the hill and become what we all dream of. That's a promise.

"The community has been so welcoming, being a ex leader of a clan I was suprised at the welcome I was given. For a clan like this I found Wg to be very open. Too which I like!"

But I was around for the whole council meeting.. So I knew mostly what was going down. For the most part I like it.

Nice post, very well put together. Also kudos to Elias for the hardwork on the recruitment video, it's coming together very well, and i'm sure that it will help bring in a large amount of people. The future only holds positive events for WG. :]

Is the non-warrers list going to be something you can be put on by choice or only those who don't meet the reqs in the six weeks?

Both. They also have the choice to join the normal list, too.

By Nick on 02/03/2009
With the choice to switch back and forth between the lists, is there going to be a waiting period for those who are on the non-warring list and want to go to the normal list?

If not, I suggest there is one of like two weeks per switch.

Sorry for the second post but...

TDM has the same cape as WG? I was at the Megaraid and I thought TDM was team-40, and I don't know what TBE is.

By Quikdrawjoe on 02/03/2009
The requirement raise is stupid, the vote was overwhelming in favor of the same requirements (50%) along with a training requirement (50%) so raising to 105 makes no sense to except a pointless poll created without the voice of the members in mind.

TBE - Team 40 (green)
WG - Team 9 (purple)
TDM - Team 18 (yellow)

Stay as they are (100 to apply, 102 to graduate) [ 36 ] [40.00%]
105 to apply [ 32 ] [35.56%]
Stay as they are, but enforce a training requirement [ 17 ] [18.89%]

1) the stay as they are is 36 or 40% as compared to raising to 105 to 32 or 35.56%.
2) The two options that have the same requirements total 58.89% In America we call that a majority.

TDM is cape 18.

They aren't permanent. The results were so close anyway, we might as well see which one works better.

By Quikdrawjoe on 02/03/2009
Thought WG was also lead by democracy. The member's opinions actually mattered. If the poll has no weight then it will be just like any other pretend democracy, they vote but the result is already determined.

P.S. We can discuss this on the topic or in PM, either is fine.

It was my decision.
I voted no, but we should try it for a bit.
Whichever requirements work better for WG will be kept.
I'll make the assessment personally in three months' time.

By Troll84 on 02/03/2009
We are not by any means at a state at which we can afford to raise requirements :S I did make my opinion on the matter clear in level three, so I must have been heavily out-voted in the council meeting as this seems to have gone ahead :S

Anyway, Apart from that, and the list of 'non-warrers' which will undoubtedly become full of the lazy members who really ought not to be in the clan anyway, good work.

By Toshortofnam on 02/03/2009
So really it didnt matter if the members wants the raise or not? Or as long as 40% or more wanted it?

By Colinwarrior on 02/03/2009
Btw, it's spelled 'tomorrow'..

By Mickey on 02/03/2009
I was at most of the council meeting so I knew this was going to happen, I'm just gladd we have alot more to look forward to now.

By Abmanju on 02/03/2009
Hmm, Sounds good, I like the three months assessment idea. Looks like you went through a lot of things during the Council Meeting.

Just one thing, I don't think the people who applied under the old requirements of 100/102 FTP should have to train up to meet the new requirements, we didn't warn them when they applied, so it's a bit unfair.
Well if it's okay with them, then of course, let them train =P, but it feels a bit forced.

Just my opinion, other than that, all seems well. Keep it up Council & Elias.

Two questions:

If 105 works out will further increases be considered, or are we absolutely capped at 105?
Also, what does this mean - directly from Elias or a council member - for "skillers"?

This is not a definitive poll. I just want the clan's opinion, from which I will make my own judgment.

Good post Randy, I think the non-warring memberlist is a far better solution than the honoured emeritus.

By Mmangler on 03/03/2009
The poll was one thing but His Lordship said that in some cases that he would make "executive" decisions. Clearly the 105 level was one of them and he said as much after he opened the council meeting. I commend his decision to open the meeting to the member and his ability to make a really hard decision.

I must respectfully disagree with the decision to require existing members to train.
People play the game for their own reasons and for their own enjoyment. They joined WG knowing the level that was required. A sudden increase in the combat requirement will unfairly obligate members with a lower cb levels to no life training or result in a ban from warring.

Ok I'm in. I need to know a couple of things tho......which
wandering cape salesman in wildy has 18 and 40?
Also, sometime prior to our first joint clan event, please
post instructions for opening another channel on ts for that
clan, ( so I won't be scrambling at the last minute to try
to figure out how to get on ts with you guys).
Other than those things, I'm good. cool.gif

Team-18 is found at Moss Giants (Level 35'ish wilderness, North of Bounty Hunter), be careful of revenants there. Orks like to hang out there sometimes, if you can't find the capeseller then take a look at the portal and mining area nearby or hop worlds.

Team-40 is found at the Dark Knight's fortress (Level 18'ish or so wilderness, west of Stealing Creations), The cape seller hangs out east of the fortress usually but he might be wandering around so keep a good idea for that yellow dot on the minimap.

Also on this list will be Emeritus (no more honored emeritus!), but they WILL have access to the war forum.

Answering your first question Wayne:
I hate the fact that everyone is suddenly splitting the clan into "warrers/pvp'ers" and "skillers".
I just don't see why you can't all get along t b h....

Having a non-warring list will potentially improve our ability to handle the needs of those on that list or the so called "skillers".
If less people are on that list, then we will be able to establish exactly what events those people wish to attend and what they don't like.... what they like to train, what skills etc.

Obviously all of those who are not on the list... ie the "warrers" will also be able to attend these events and will be greatly encouraged to do so.

By VEPHYSAURAS on 03/03/2009
Sounds interesting, be nice to have some p2p raids when I have time.

Still think we should have a training program or events to encourage it. Instead of just raising the requirements.

By Billis2525 on 04/03/2009
Im fine with raising the level to 105 but i think its silly to make it only a temporary thing for 3 months you should have just made one decision and stuck with it.

By Sithofwookie on 04/03/2009
Just wondering but why can't we do OPH again? I don't know what it is to begin with but from what I've heard it was epic.

Elias,

Things are already on the way to improving. Some are reconsidering their leaving already. The members we have left are on the way to being a tighter group of friends. I have had people that rarely chat to me, now chatting and being friendly. Last night you could tell in IRC that the mood is improving.

Council may or may not have the perfect plan, but we all can see your working on it. Thanks for the dedication and I really appreciate the things you do for us.

Just remember guys that perfection comes with practice.
