Random Sig Generator?

By Gibble00 on 16/03/2008
Okay, so there's no art in this topic, but I figure this is the most relevant forum.

Does anyone here have the code for a simple random sig generator that they could tell me (and others) how to use?

Someone in WG used to use one and it was pretty awesome. I want to have different sigs, ya know, without manually switching them all the time.

I've googled some stuff, but when I look at those sorts of things it's all pretty incomprehensible to me rolleyes.gif

I might pm him about it, but if I do I'll get him to post it in here. Be good for everyone to know. wink.gif

Me have one? I *built* one!
http://robbiethe1st.ktserv.com/scripts/randsig.php.txt
Save that, rename to randsig.php, then upload. Any image files(.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png) in the directory you upload it to, or any subdirectories are in the rotation. You don't need to specially name the image files.

To put it in your sig, the code is:
CODE
http://www.yoursite.com/path/to/randsig.php/.png

theres a website where you can upload all the images you want to be in the sig then it hosts them, they change when you refresh.

Forgot the name though :/

Well, actually, you shouldn't use a random image loader that changes every page load - its horribly clumsy, wastes bandwidth, and slows down forum loading. The script I gave you works just like the banner - every time it loads it gives you a random image, but it also tells the browser to cache it for 15 minutes. This means that it will reload any time you right-click > view image and then force refresh it(F5), but, if your just browsing, it won't reload it every page load.

My dynamic signature uses the same principal, and most other dynamic signatures do it also.

Robbie, I've got the script saved, where and how should I upload it?

You'll need a server, as I said, I can set you up with some space.
URL would be something like this:
gibble00.jobbrown.com/randsig.php/.png

Email me the pictures and the script if you want me to set it up for you.
