[Completed] WC Skill Trials
By George on 13/04/2009
GUARDIANS,You have been drawn to this post because you have a genuine interest to be part of the Jagex Skilling Cup.
You are here because you want to represent your clan.
You are here because you want to show that WG can skill better than all of the other clans put together.
You are here
FOR GLORY.
If the above is true, then I encourage you to read on.
THE JAGEX SKILLING CUP:You may have heard that WG has been entered to compete in the Jagex Skilling CupVery shortly I will be required to submit a list of 10 names, and these 10 people will be the skillers who represent us in this
immensely important competition.
Try as the staff have, we think it would be unfair to pick these 10 members based on previous merit and achievements, so I present to you how we are going to decide who is to compete:
THE JAGEX SKILLING CUP TRIALS:!!!These are open to everyone who can read this topic!!!
The Trial:1. You sign yourself up.
2. You post your starting exp
3. You train the chosen skill in your own time for one hour exactly, although THE MORE THE BETTER
4. You stop after one-two hours of training.
5. You post your ending exp at the end of EACH hour and to save me time, calculate your exp gain in your hour/s.
6. From that, we work out who is going to represent WG in the actual competition.
You are competing for one of TWELVE places (10 Cup Competitors, 2 Reserves)
THE CHOSEN SKILL IS: WOODCUTTINGThe Rules:If you do not read these, you cannot try-out for the cup places- You must post the EXACT hours you train for here, the exact time you start a skilling session and when you end it.
- You can train whenever, wherever and however you like as long as you reach a grand total of TWO hours of exp gaining.
- NO BRAWLER GLOVES OR STEALING CREATIONS items allowed, NO LUMBERJACK COSTUMES.
- You MUST sign up below
- You may only start training on Tuesday 14th April - 7pm GMT
- You must conclude your training by Friday 17th April - 11am GMT
This is supposed to be fun, however it is to be done with serious intent.
If I find that you have disregarded any of the above rules, you will be immediately excluded from the trial and therefore from the Skilling Cup. This is your one and only warning. Training Sessions Achieved:
- Gorgemaster - 60,444
- Starzhine - 61,080 and 53,069
- Groedius
- Aardvark39 - 59,670

You MUST remember when you start training AND WRITE DOWN YOUR EXACT HOURS HERE IN THE FORM OF A NEW POST, as you do them, AS WELL AS POSTING YOUR STARTING EXP at the beginning of each hour!Good luck, remember: these trials ARE important, but the 12 people will not be picked purely on the results of this trial.

Take me off the list please. My internet connection is too faulty and I would probably only let you down. Good luck to everyone competing.
By George on 16/04/2009
You have just over 24 hours to complete this.. WHY HAS NO ONE DONE IT?
By Tnuac on 16/04/2009
Sorry but I've just come to a realisation I don't have time to complete it, far too much to do towards the end of easter.
Good luck to everyone else.

I chose to experiment as there are so many options to boost your wood cutting. Here is what I found.
The Best Exp: Teaks, cut and drop, with lumberjack outfit and beaver.
Second: Willow, cut and drop, with lumberjack outfit and beaver.
I posted the sessions here, but some are bad. I also tried stews and axeman folly, what a pain and it just slowed me down, rather than help.
I will also have 95 today (Thursday, 16/04), and hopefully 96 or 97 before competition begins.
So my conclusion:
Cut teaks, and drop, use beaver and lumberjack outfit (if you have one).
Notes on training:
1 hour – Training in Karamaja on Teak & dropping 5:12 pm – 6:12 pm w/beaver
Beginning - 8,487,066
Ending – 8,548,146 = 61,080
1 hour – Training in Catherby on maples 7:02 pm – 8:02 pm w/beaver
Beginning - 8,548,146
Ending – 8,596,087 = 47,941
1 hour – Gnome Stronghold w/hydra & own magic tree 12:44 pm – 1:44 pm
Beginning - 8,643,281
Ending – 8,675,050 = 31,769
1 hour – Willow trees & drop south of Taverly 2:05 pm – 3:05 pm w/beaver
Beginning - 8,677,680
Ending – 8,730,749 = 53,069

Tempus fugit. I may not have time on Friday to do this. So I no-lifed 94 wood cutting and ran two one hour trials last night that I could not post because I am at the mercy of a travel lodging internet connection, which started really lagging hour two. My plan is to continue to train, train and train some more...95 at least or bust. George, I thought that you said no lumber jack--not that I have the full outfit but if the Cup allows it I sure am going to try to get it. I completed the trials without a familar and without potions. I performed the trials at Draynor and BANKED the logs, which I believe is faster that dropping them. I also believe that trading could up the XP total. The problem with Draynor is other cutters. Willows are fast and banking may make up for the XP differential with say doing maples though maples may be faster with trade.
First Hour:
Finishing XP - Beginning XP = XP Start Time/Ending Time
8,016,057 - 7,959,357 = 56,700 6:10/7:10
Second Hour:
Finishing XP - Beginning XP = XP Start Time/Ending Time
8,071,744 - 8,016,057 = 55,687 7:16/8:16
