Power abuse complaint.

Having a heated debate in IRC.

Insults flying right left and centre, towards members and ex members alike, regarding the recent 26k glitch bannings.

As soon as Andrew is challenged, he brings out his banhammer.

Power abuse is not warrented.

This follows Andrew's remark that everyone who experimented with the glitch should be banned, which includes several WG members.

Why did you say that line? Andrew voiced his opinion, you could have simply ignored it, or constructively criticised it.

The conversation was getting elevated; frankly I think the quickest way to defuse it would have been to set the channel so that only h-op or higher could talk at all and leave it there for about a minute, but banning Mugger had a similar effect (and he was let back in soon after).

Not saying it was right or wrong, but it was effective and I think it was warranted.

That aside, my opinion doesn't matter. This should be a PM to council.

Well I was there for the whole incident so I'm what you call an eye-witness, so I get to speak

I think that...

1. Andrew's reaction to Mugger's statements and his decision to ban him upon such without any sort of verbal warning was a bit too far. Considering the positions of the two people involved (A ranked WG member and a DF member) it has knock-on effects like this which should have been forseen and prevented.

But I also think...

2. Mugger's replies to Andrew's prior opinions were rather impolite and I agree with Abs and think that Mugger could have challenged or criticisized the opinions more constructively... after all you can't say "Who the **** are you Andrew?" and not expect everyone to start flaming or ultimately someone gets kicked.

There's my opinion on the matter.

If someone said 'Who the **** are you' to me I wouldn't be right impressed either. If you're going to flame a half-op, you can expect that you won't be in there for long. He's entitled to his opinion.

But that said, was a bit forward to ban you on the spot. More verbal warning would be a better way around it. Lessons learned for next time.

I hoped you talked to andrew privately about this before making a public rant. Did you? If not, you're causing a soap opera for no reason.

It is not like Mugger was banned for long. He was banned for roughly 30 seconds I would say. He is just trying to cause e-drama. I would have done the exact same thing in Groe's place, and all he did was gave Mugger an "extended" kick, due to many people having re-join on kick on.

Well, to be honest, I'm stuck in the middle on this one. On one hand, you were flaming with that comment, whether it was intended or not. The first thing I thought when I read it was "Well, that wasn't very nice...".

You seem to be heated about rule breakers getting what they deserved. It clearly says not to abuse bugs or glitches in the rules on runescape.com. I can't see why that would anger you, other than the fact that some WG Memebrs may have been banned.

As I recall, WG enforces Jagex Rules , and so they should have been removed upon discovery of the violation. Were I in the position to remove people, I would have done so had I caught wind of it. But that's just me, speaking from experience with Redemption.

Comes right down to it, you flamed/flame baited, and got an extremely shirt-lived kickban for it, the purpose of which was obviously to send you a message. That has me wondering, actually, where are the logs the conversation immediately after you rejoined the channel?

Now, when it comes to you, Gro, I'd say that some type of a warning would have been warrented. I understand that his comment wasn't called for, but a kickban with a no reason other than "Bye" is a bit uncalled for in and of itself. Now, had you given him a reason such as "Don't Flame", or some variation of that statement, then I'd be totally in agreement with the ban. He may claim that he didn't mean it as an insult, but it's clear by the comments here that at first glance, it's flaming. So, all in all, I would have done the same, but a valid reason should always be given, and "Bye" simply isn't a good reason to be attached to a kickban message.

Now, Lordy, I mean no disrespect here, but that comment in your reply struck me as...well, Not the Lordy I know, from what I know of Lordy. It seems like you don't care. Although this isue is trivial, I thought you would have posted something more than a statement about it not being worth your time. If nothing else, step up and put an end to it with your compelling voice. That hawt Aussie accent, for example.

The lack of any type of Leadership post here, or even Gro's own reply with some type of statement also strikes me as odd.
