Changes to clan friend rank

By JC on 18/03/2008
Okay, after a bot of some sort managed to evade our security today and post some dodgy links Robbie has added an extra layer of security to the forums. From now on you must have at least 10 posts to create a thread on WG forums.

However some of our Ex-Members need their ranks changed:

Anthony69
Mustangred1
Dracon974
Rokushox
Next Generat
Palidore
Hourus0
Napoleon483
bbgunmaster
Wrecknbreak
Kk4630
Braveheart49
dhboy123

Are only the few that I recognise which are clan friend rank which will not have enough posts to automatically upgrade to the new rank 'Trusted Clan Friend' which allows both the creation of and editing of your own threads. You need at least 10 posts to proceed to this rank

Obviously I cant edit their ranks (not that I didnt try tongue.gif) so when a council member has time you may want to edit these accounts.

I think some of them, like anth and cody, should get Emeritus as well

That'll slow down our Recruitment. We can't have that, that spamming Bot thing will only come every now and then, 10 Posts is a bit too much to ask for posting an Intro and Applying, same with people who want to register, declare a war and be over with it. We want people to apply and join as soon as possible, some Trial Ranks don't get 10 posts after a few days tongue.gif.

Yeah...I'll get Robbie to remove the 10 posts thing, I think an Email Validation is better, however it has been breaking down lately, which is why I asked for it to be removed.

i'd say we should keep the 10 posts thingy...

Or give them more forums to post in

By DZ on 19/03/2008
Make a sticky in guest chat telling people not to click those links and take away the 10 post thing.

What I will do is reduce it to 5 posts. For one thing, it was *not* a bot. It was a human, most likely a gold-farmer type person.

Guests and clan friends can see quite a few forums, and even with just guest talk there is more than 5 topics active, so a good recruit could apply in less than 15 minutes.

If a recruit cannot be troubled to post 5 non-spam posts, what makes you think that they would go to any event that isn't fun? Sure, they might come to a clan-wars event, or a bounty-hunter event, but why would they come to a skills event? I mean, 15 minutes of time isn't too much - back when I joined, the application process was much much harder.

It's a psychological tactic Robbie.
They should be able to make their introduction topic straight away rather than having to go through red tape.
They might be put off if they have to accumulate posts before introducing themselves.

How about make it so you can post in the Intro forum with no req, but anywhere else needs a post req. Once they're accepted thats removed.

Robbie is overworked as it is.
Let's try and keep it simple.

Get rid of it. It's just busy work for newcomers...

We had more problems with this today.....

I managed to catch the account before he could post though and Gus managed to ban it:

Thats the account, not sure if it will still work.
