Raids = No more
By Back to Own on 19/04/2009
Im tired of it.
I'm not hosting anymore of these "set times" raids. No one gives a shit about them; it doesnt even matter.
We mass up 30 minutes and pull 7 people. I'm not wasting my time anymore and enforcing these set time raids. The last 3 raids I've hosted we havent even pulled more then 10 WG. I just tried hosting the American Raid and we pulled 9 people. One person is heading off to dinner, which is fine and all, and another person is just in there to "chat". Make that 7.
We were in our prime activity state when we had set raid times. Its not working. Maybe this is true, but I'm willing to be anything that set raid times was NOT the factor that determined activity in that era.
Its a waste of time. I REFUSE to continue with this crap. It's a waste of effort on the people who want to pk, those who are just there to help WG, and its a waste of my own time. I'm not bothering to enforce it anymore.
And teamspeak is down again.

I can't relate to the issue on the same level as you because I have been too inactive to be able to host any, but I have always been against set raid times, especially when we are in a raiding slump like we are now.

Alright if you think this is a bad idea, scrap them and we'll hope for the best.
I'm gonna back you up because I don't want to kill your spark.

I think its not the fact that they are set raids. I think the problem is the timing of them and the stress and "popularity" of them. I very much do agree that we as a clan don't pull our weight. We don't get enough to these things that are permanent in state. People probably don't even have the times memorized.
No prep raids are okay, especially for P2P. Today's P2P raid, for example, was great fun. I think we just need to keep doing these and PROVE that they are fun. I think I can safely say that most people made a profit.
Prep (posted) raids seem like they have light in them as well. People can see something specifically and then sign up for them. Weekly raids are great on PAPER. The problem is, we are WG. No offense, but this clan is lazy. We have about half the clan who are avid pkers and are clan "addicts," meaning they would do anything for the clan at any time. The others don't want to contribute, or want to contribute minimally. They see what they are doing is fine as well because they people like Spanthrax / Eregion / Tmal / Rachel / Kathy ditch raids all the time. Monkey-see, monkey-do.
A huge problem with getting rid of weekly raids is that we won't get enough raids. I'm not a huge fan of posting event, because I am VERY unstable with my open times, making it a bitch to post something like a week prep Megaraid. I think our raiding might die out. The only reason I hosted so many raids the last two weeks was because I was on break, and I had so much free time... When we don't have a mandatory thing set down (the weekly raids), the natural appearance and effort by the staff to make events like raids disappears.
I do have one idea. I could do what Abs used to do for event leaders, and give ASSIGNMENTS for Raid Leaders each week as a formal post in level 3. I would have a rotation schedule for Megaraids, and then tell raid leaders do make an "honest effort" to start a prep raid or two a week. I think weekday raids should occur. Even though I can't make them most likely because of my timezone, there's no reason not to do them.

I'm with Glenn.
It's not so much weekly raids as it is laziness.

I think hosting a mandatory raid minutes after we finished our mandatory sc match, after we lost and our morale had plummetted , was a bad idea.
You were never going to have a successful raid there tbh

I wouldn't say Rachel is lazy, glenn. But I would agree with the rest. I'll post my full response later.

I was against set raid times from the beginning.

Wasnt mandatory, and we had nonstop action for about 2 hours. I everyone profitted.

Gorge everyone that went to that raid had a blast. I didn't even harass people that didn't go. Our opts stayed consistent throughout, without threatening or pressuring people to stay.

If you leaders want to try out a new system, you have my full support.
I've been too controlling too long, and that might be why we're still in this slump.
Don't let me kill your motivation... let me enhance it.
I trust you all. You know what you are doing.
If you want dynamic raid times, sure... just don't bias the times against a timezone.
One more thing. I want the Aussie raid fixed... that's pretty successful.
By ArSeNaLfAn32 on 20/04/2009
Yes the Aussie raid stays. That's always been fun, especially when I can make it...
