Graphics issues

By Back to Own on 28/04/2009
I've been having graphics problems when trying to play Warcraft III and Gunz.
The gunz loading screen is just gray with weird patches, but you cant make out anything. Warcraft is messy too

I've asked Sooth what to do, and he suggested defragging my comp. When that didnt work:

(20:38:20) <[Sooth]> patch game manually 2) update vid card driver (if you ahve one) 3) update mother board (if you don't have a vid card) 5: "Options" > and change screen res to 1024x768

I downloaded the patch, updated my video card, and my resolutions are normally 1024x768. Sooth cant count so theres no #4 hash.png.

I've tried reinstalling and restarting my computer multiple times, but that doesn't help. It was working fine like a year ago. I've only started trying to play it again recently, but now its all screwed up.

if i remember correctly, warcraft 3 is a pretty old game. for alot of older games u have to change ur graphics settings down to lower specs, like 256 colors and such. before you try that though, mess with your resolution both in game and on your actual computer because I know that can cause a lot of problems in fullscreen games.

Before reinstalling your Graphics drivers did you completely remove them? (Try unsinstalling them from Device Manager using the "Delete this driver" option (or whatever its called)) and then installing the newest package from your Video card's manufactures website.

Edit: Does this happen when you play any other Full screen games (non RS)?

Starcraft doesn't use -any- 3D rendering. I believe it is all pre-rendered image "sprites".

That being said, I think your graphics card is in the process of failing; at least part of the 3D processor appears to have failed.

It seems however that the 2D section seems to still be working; This is why you are still able to do non-3d stuff(like view the windows desktop).

I suggest getting the card RMA'd or replaced.
