That post isnt 100% official, but they do state later that Jagex is working on new policy in regard to SK and 3rd party software so I'm guessing that its not going to be good for clans in general.

The very important difference between mIRC and SK is mIRC is not some specifically designed for RS tool, it is purely another chat client like a different version of Msn etc. As a result you can hardly call it '3rd party software' as it does not directly interact with RS at all, nor could it endanger your computer any more than MSN or similar.

Oh my god >.>, It's not a problem for me since I use mIRC as well, but surely this can't be true, most of the clan world is against it, Jagex will probably be forced into allowing it again, thanks to Swiftkit's support from the clan world.

Well, let's wait until this official post & new policy, but wow, just wow, I don't think that Mod knows the significance of Swiftkit lol.

On what grounds can they not tell us we can't use SK? i mean yes its 3rd party software, but the game is still loaded from the runescape website and isn't actually touched by the software its just around the sides helping with useful information.

As long as they have no way of catching me using it, I'll continue to use it.

If you read the post on RSC about it it seems to be a mistake. Jagex notified the creators of SK that it would be illegal and they haven't done so in this case.

Don't like Sk anyway... ok, I admit the tools are usefull... but god, such a small schreen you play on...

the reason why sk is forbidden is due to its encouragement of rwt.

i don't know about you guys but the fact that the creators of sk have advertisements for ways to make gp easy and how to buy gp for real world cash. accounts. etc


secondly sk is taking away from jagex the fact that instead of players relying on jagex they now rely on sk for their information needs.in other words their argument is sk is using jagex stuff that is made to the public for knowledge but not to be added or used in a way against their terms of usage.

also. swifkit is capable of things besides being a "tool"
i've seen certain things that break rules in rs and i think jagex is aware of sk somewhat abilities.

After looking at several threads, I have to say three things:
1. Go ahead and use Swiftkit.
2. Do not say that you use Swiftkit ingame.
3. Screw Jagex rules, I, personally, am going to use Firefox(which, in f2p, blocks the ads due to Jagex's auto-resizing of the client) with FlashBlock(as I hate most flash, ads or not), and I am not going to change for anything.
