Science don't lie!@

Through random sampling and a severe abuse of statistics and brain power I've noticed a dramatic drop in the word count in introductions and member applications. I suggest electroshock therapy it might be effective but you KNOW it'll be fun! At least for us, watching, and playing with switches. And stuff.

I'm serious though, the application process needs a massive overhaul. I tried to do it about two months back and made some headway I think, but since then I've had some serious shit come my way during the summer. Now I forget everything I did and the URL to the fake forum I'd set up to work with stuff.

I'll be thinking about it for a few days and then get back on it.

So what would YOU want to see in a new application format? I'll do whatever I like then hand it to the council because I'm freelancing and stuff. But suggestions are welcome and I'd like to make it at least applicable.

PS: Auto-decline anyone who gives a short application or horrific grammar. I'm goddamn SERIOUS.

application proccess should carry information about the person but also give the person a chance to add onto the application anything practical.

like something they like they can take a picture and place it on the application. in all seriousness by their choice of picture we can tell who the person is since a picture is worth a thousand words

Word count doesn't matter, as long as the questions are answered fully. Grammar I agree with. If they don't at least try, why should we strain our eyes and minds trying to read what they say to us? It gets annoying.

You don't need an essay to explain who you are and why you want to join the clan tbh.

Yes you very well do. If we're so concerned about dedication, I'd like to see more than 50 words of original content in an introduction. A clan at its core is no better than its worst member; for months we've been trying to improve the clan implement different requirements trying to boost activity and event participation, culminating in Lordy's IA post earlier this week. Yet we let perfect idiots join the clan just so we can improve our members list? If we don't take the application process seriously, you know damn well none of the intros will either, and it's rotting us from the inside out. I'm not saying that these people should be turned away, but they should be encouraged to give a damn. To my mind alot of the BS we're getting on RSC is more than well deserved.

PS: Quickly about the intros system; I'm not trying to revolutionize it or anything myself. I'm only trying to condense what already exists into an easier-to-understand format. This came out of a discussion about two months ago with several members and a few of the council; basically I felt like all I was doing was complaining about stuff, and this looked like something I could do to help. Any changes I make will be remarked and easily removed at the discretion of the council (but oh my GOD Firefox even has a built-in spellchecker, there's no excuse for some of this grammar it's heinous).

I agree, grammar and spelling should not be a problem when you take the time to fill an application. The overall commitment of a member is hard to define generally from an introduction. It should be stressed more I agree to give these applications more respect. At same time however it needs to be easily accessible to everyone excited to apply that meets out criteria.

First I would like to ask this: How many people do you think will actually read the long intro posts? I usually read all of it because I want to get to know the person. I even go back later and reread it if I need some help to recall who they are. But by the responses I see on many posts, I can tell people are not reading them but just getting their post counts up.

First suggestion would be to make sure the clan is actually caring enough to read them.

I find it annoying to get a super short post and have actually made comment on the threads to ask for more information. This does seem to work better. Once they realize that what they wrote is not enough information, they do add more in. Although, you have to show caution when you do this, I have in the past seen council annoyed by it.

Second suggestion would be to gently suggest that they go back and edit more information in.

Maybe in graduation, the mentor should ask a few questions. If they have read the intro, application and gotten to know the person, this should be an easy task for them to ask like two essay questions that the trial guardian must answer. One for RS and RL.

Examples: What was your funniest momment in RS in the last month? What do you think would make f2p better? What is your favorite thing to do on Friday night? What is your favorite movie and why?

I remember being new to WG and not really wanting to post at all. I would barely write anything. It takes time for them to get comfortable.
