Closing forums
By Back to Own on 05/07/2009
For Raids and stuff, Mickey suggested a pretty good idea.
The idea basically is for major events, such as raids and wars, we shut down the forums. For the offline message, we basically put our message to like "Get on TS, or get in the warring channel" or something like that.
A problem I can see with this is like people who are considering joining, or angry emeritus or something. However, I think it'll increase our turnout.
Is there a way we can close everything BUT the guest forums?
Post opinions, and suggestions, and if there are any alternatives to this concept.

Top clans do that when they are in a PKRI

I think we should do it. Yes it'll make some people rage, but on the other hand, it forces people to do what they really should be doing in the first place.

No don't do it... for one I use Bto's P2P Guide when gearing for a P2P Raid as do MANY others...
So you could say "fine we'll shut down the forums after we leave the mass spot" BUT NO!
What if some people arrive late and need to gear then... etc.... bad idea.

George you're just a noob, just gtfo

Yes i think we should do it, just lock every forum except guest - can we do that?

My point is valid...

I'm actually on Gorge's side lol
Most clans will do this when they have PLANNED PKRIs. Those have anti-crash and all that jazz.
Seeing how we don't do those, we would just be closing the forums when we go raiding, right? So how hard would it be for some big clan to look at our forums, see they are offline and that we are pking, and go hunt us? There are what, 4 PvP worlds? How hard can that be?

We dont have to be detailed
All we need to say is "Get in the warring channel"
But yea thats true... if they know #wgwilderness then they can get info easily.

Hey don't get me wrong I would kind of like to see it too, I just don't think we are PK based enough to do that.

One, there is no way to close only part of the forums, at least not without manually locking and unlocking each channel individually.
Two, I, and others also use the forums when we are raiding. I am sure that I am not the only one with multiple tabs open, and if I need information, or to look up something, I have the wg forums in one of my tabs. Locking them would do nothing(If someone already knows what they should be doing, why would they go play rs just because we locked the forums?), and just make people mad.
