Things you miss about old RS
By 30 Str 0wnz on 13/07/2009
I tried searching for this on the forums because I figured someone's done it before but I couldn't find anything. Anyway if someone did do it before I don't wanna bump an old topic.
Try to think of something you miss about old RS (whether that be 2 months ago or 2 years ago) that isn't "old wildy" or something along those lines. Can be as simple or major as you want it.
Then list something you think is a really nice improvement from old RS if you'd like.
Something I miss: When having a D-chain meant you were super rich
Improvement: All the new prayers
Try to be unique about what you pick and try not to copy someone else's.
By Stokenut on 14/07/2009
Improvement: easier to extract real life details from female players thanks to words such as "phone" being uncensored.
I miss: staking

Getting rich selling cakes, gnomeballs, and model ships to nubs.

The wilderness.

When people say "old wildy" they usually refer to the old style of PvP combat, rather than the wilderness itself. To be fair, with the increased chances of getting the proper kill plus misc. valuable items such as corrupt, I could almost live with the new system (If a few more PvP worlds were added).
But what I miss most is the actual wilderness itself. Before BH, CWs, SC, FoG, the farm shit, Corp beast, etc. there was a lot of empty space of just... well wilderness. And you had little spots like the bone yard or the ruins with the two black knights in the poison spider woods (If anyone remembers that)... little things that had no real purpose except what you made it to be. And for me that kind of added to the mystery and magic of it all. You could actually wander into spots where there was no major landmark on the map, get a bit lost, and it would be almost like truly adventuring. Nowadays it's just overcrowded with minigames and shit everywhere you go. Every single location - the ruins west of bandits, the farm east of BH, they all have a purpose now, which ruins it to be honest. Not to mention revs could not piss me off anymore.
Other than that, I have to go a long way back to find things that I miss.
Back to the RSC days, actually. In Lumbridge in RS2, the graveyard is pretty much out in the open and loads of people are there for the yew tree and easy access to the swamp. In RSC though you actually had to travell down a sort of hidden passageway to get to it, and going down a back alley to a small and isolated graveyard has a more impressive feeling to it, than what it was today. I took some pics for comparison:

Coincidentally when I logged in on Kecooler on RSC/RSHD to take the pics, both my characters on both games were in the Varrock west bank

On RSHD I just home teled to Lumbridge, on RSC I had to suicide on a guard
Mostly it's little details like the jewel shop in Falador having 2 floors in RSC (Bad memory there).
In terms of good updates Jagex has released many with RS2. I especially enjoy Castlewars and other minigames, the resting function is great, and as expensive as PoH is, it's pretty cool. I think the best of all time has to be RSHD. I cannot wait to war or raid in fullscreen with those graphics, and I think that's the best thing that's happened since RS2 came out.

I miss selling to all the pk'ers at outrageous prices in edge. When I would do it just for fun to see how much I could get for a manta ray or a super attack. The trade limits really limit this type of fun. I loved Donnie giving me like 40 mil to go shopping for him and he would buy me a nice gift. <3333
I sold ppots 3 days ago for 17k and a rune chest plate for 70k. Sharks sold for 1.7k each. Yeah I enjoyed selling this stuff even though I had to wait between sales for the trade limit to come back up.

Tired of: Idiots.
Its like missing the days of rsc.
By Mickey on 14/07/2009
Things I miss:
-The Old, basic graphics
-Maxed melee being an uncommon thing
-Your achievements actually meaning anything
Improvements: Can't actually think of anything I'd have over the old RS.
By Big Al 002 on 14/07/2009
idk i like the new rs better
the only thing is theres a clusterfuck of minigames in the wildy, like keanu said
By Jayson on 14/07/2009
i miss: staking and no trade limits

/sarcasm
By ThisIsUnique on 14/07/2009

By Tnuac on 14/07/2009
I miss trading without the bloody trade limit
I miss the times when lumbridge would be full of people dueling and staking.
I miss being able to duel anyone anywhere on any world.
I miss the wilderness fights where you couldn't eat while fighting, and couldn't escape for 3 rounds
I miss all the hype about carpentry coming out that persisted for 3 years
I really really miss holiday drops, when they actually dropped it on the ground
I miss the bug when rs2 came out which allowed you to airwalk above falador
I miss the times when everyone was so excited when dragon long came out, and it meant you were loaded
I miss the times when skilling and merchenting (and dueling) were the best ways to make money
I miss the durial incident, that was exciting
I could go on

Improvements: Ge (to an extent), new skills, etc
By Eregion2 on 14/07/2009
I miss auto-dropping ores and logs when your inventory was full.

I also miss free trade.
By Tnuac on 14/07/2009
Oh yeah, auto-dropping stuff. Definitely miss that. People used to train like that all the time, then newbs would come and pick up the ores for free

One of the legendary moments of RS's history though fo sho
By Indivi2you on 14/07/2009
I miss:
-When skilling made real money
-When certain high levels actually meant something
-When high levels and expensive items weren't so common and easy to get.
-Old trade limit :<
I like:
-Runescape!
By Angus0000 on 14/07/2009
I miss being able to spell out words with fire on the minimap.
By Frozen_10 on 14/07/2009
I miss the feeling of discovering new things, like monsters, items, cities.
From Lumbrige to Varrock, from Varrock to Falador.
Killing chickens, cows, dwarfs, guards.
By pkers210 on 14/07/2009
The most i miss about old runescape is that there were just less ass holes in the game

Hopefully you can still manage that one
By 30 Str 0wnz on 16/07/2009
Another thing I miss: The joy of seeing someone else die and seeing all their drop on the ground, lol. Crowds would just swarm and you'd frantically try and click for anything you could.
By Kyle on 16/07/2009
The sheer mysteriousness of it.
Walking through Lumbridge dungeon, you see "Your torch starts flaring!"
Don't know what that means. Get hit for a 15, and downed instantly by the swarm of bugs.
Getting pissed at that, and almost quitting.
Getting members for the first time. Adventuring and seeing the sights of the entire world is what I did first. I just miss the nostalgia in it.
That's all.
Improvement- The new graphics updates makes exploring new areas for new members so much more amazing. Brings more interest into the game.

Yea, that's pretty much why I try new games. You never know what you're experiencing till years later when you miss it.
By Buzzard1985 on 16/07/2009
everything but the graphics.
By Dallar on 16/07/2009
I miss the times when a character with a Rune battle axe was legendary.
I also miss Zezima. Where has the legend gone?
I like the new HD graphics and the Grand Exchange
Dislikes must be the trade limits.. It killed the whole idea of merchanting for good
By Manunited_05 on 16/07/2009
Trade limit , old pking and Staking.
By Ka Pineapple on 16/07/2009
I miss old school pking where you could get what the person was wearing.
By Mochacho456 on 01/08/2009
The game didn't suck.
RWT being blocked, barrows were cool, slayer was out. After that, everything went down hill. I also miss RSC so much.
By God Reports on 01/08/2009
I miss when you could skill and make money lmfao. :<
By Dallar on 01/08/2009
I also miss the times when earning a mil was EPIC
By Catestrophe on 03/08/2009
I miss:
- Buyable skills that don't cost money
- Pking: To get what you kill
- Staking: Who doesnt like to gamble?
- RSC Pking section: Making a fool out of someone by smiting out their whip/high valuable item they risk.
By Bobster125 on 03/08/2009
I miss... Runescape Classic. The Exp system was different, when RS2 was released so many people jumped up levels cos of the change in exp for levels XD also... the fact that Super Attacks in Rs Classic were deep red and not blue

Old school staking where D Meds were the thing to stake in classic, or staking a rune full helm in lumby with a D Long being the best weapon. Tank Maging when it didn't matter about your magic attack+ you still hit anyway.. Staking in paticular i miss cos that was fun win or lose. Old MB pking too i miss. God i could go on. XD

Jumped? What about the 9HPers?
As far as I know, the RSC exp system sucks. Max. you can train at is 30k xp per hour... I prefer RS2 to that
Tbh nowadays everything in RSC is overpriced. Super set? 100k on the street. And rares? In RS2 you have a discontinued item in the modern game - couple mil. In RSC you have a discontinued item in a discontinued game - we're into the billions here.
By edanias on 03/08/2009
I miss the great house drop party's. I miss giving the new players all kinds of stuff just to help get them started. When someone had a skill cape trimmed or untrimmed players would treat you with respect now it is a joke no one seems to care due to some of the mini-games where you gather up exp points to get a skill cape, I busted my ass to get my skill capes I never used the mini-games or bought my capes. Thats what I miss on RS.
By Bassism on 03/08/2009
I miss - Being one of a rare few people to have max melees
- No Trade limits, it was so much easier to help friends out when they were in financial difficulty
- When Clan PK gear was simply rune, dhide, whip.
Improvements - New skills, new items, new minigames.
By slayer123121 on 03/08/2009
~ Pkin with kf
~ Trashing clans in P2p
~ Mage bank with a few Rsd m8's.
~ W18 Edge
Improvement ~ None im done with the game, don't got time for it, could make time if i really wanted to but cba they ruined the game for me.
By Dallar on 03/08/2009

You can still do that... you just won't get far
By Mickey on 04/08/2009
Really, I just wish they would restore the low detail of the game to it's former glory. Cities like varrock and ardy look hideous with all the light colours. It really only looks good in HD. On top of that, low detail is so much more jagged thanit used to be, and it looks horrible.
I also miss, being able to get lost in the wilderness, and the wilderness actually having a dangerous feel. Nowadays, you have a farm that barely has anything wrong with it and tons of safe zones (such as BH and clan wars), and that's about it.
By Loppls on 04/08/2009

By al0ysia pk on 06/08/2009
i miss: using a new comer map to navigate trough lumbridge, draynor, varrock, falador
pking on the most noobist account and still making HUGE profit
being a f2p whit full rune (g) combat 60 and being respected for having rune(g)
the moment i first saw a skill cape it was actualy a quest cape but yeh i didnt know what i saw when he did the emote
finding it epic that my friend could make adamant
old school pking
scamming noobs
drop parties where you just follow a random guy and he would drop items on the floor
getting free 100k and 200k when it was still MUCH
