July Promotions?

I think we should be on top of this. July is coming to an end and we don't want people thinking we didn't even put any thought into who we felt deserved a promotion.

Let's not announce it 3/4 of the way through August. We've announced the June Promotions this month, let's be better about getting July nearer the end of July.

I know he's not the most liked person around and usually rubs people the wrong way and all that jazz, but I genuinely feel that Joe, with all his faults, deserves a promotion.

He's a GREAT member, like him or not. He's kind, helpful active and all that stuff. Most of all, he's honest. Sure he's a little rough around the edges when dealing with us, but when you actually look at what he's got to say, there's always truth to it. He picks at our weaknesses and makes them evident to us no matter how hard we want to ignore them.

I understand that he's not perfect, but I think he is deserving of Higher Guardian for the contributions he gives to this clan. I can totally understand why some wouldn't want him promoted though.

I don't have any other candidates jumping out at me for Higher or Elite currently, but we shouldn't be avidly looking for them either, let's keep in mind these ranks are earned not given. So we shouldn't feel compelled to promote three people to Higher and one to Elite.

Also, just a suggestion, if we even have a month where we don't have and strong candidates for promotion we should at least make an IA saying that we all discussed it but felt nobody stood out, so at least they know we weren't slacking and were in fact working.

We just promoted people barely a week ago
+ Joe is on 80% warn...unfortunately he needs to stay there for a while so he sees that we're not joking around.

But those promotions were FOR June.

My point for bringing this up, is that mid August will roll around and then people will start the same talk - what happened with promotions?

The June promotions should have happened towards the end of June and early July...they happened on July 22nd.

Members should be promoted based on actions done that month and prior, but how are we to distinguish when we're 3/4 of our way into the next month?

We need to get July sorted that way we can release them at a reasonable time, and then concentrate on August stuff.

June promotions happened at the right time, (halfway through the next month) - although realistically we should do them the minute the month ends to announce them on the 1st or 2nd day of the next month (so July 1st or 2nd for June)

How can you see who deserves a promotion for that month IF THE MONTH IS NOT YET OVER??

So, we should do July promotions on August 22nd that way we've got fresh in our minds everything each member did for the last 22 days PLUS everything they did for July?

July promotions should happen the very first days of August. Seeing as it's July 31st...

What do you mean the month isn't over? We've got like 23 hours left in July. Seems pretty over to me...

Just think about it. If we do all promotion 3/4 into the next month, all the stuff they did for the past 20-odd days will be what we remember, not the 30 before the previous 20. We need to be on top of the current months promotions like 3/4 of the way through THAT month just to get an idea of who might be the ones to get promoted. Then once it's over, decide who kept consistent through the month.

Keep in mind the promotions from two weeks ago were for June...we were lazy June, nothing can be done about that. What can be done is we prepare properly for July and August.

If we don't have any good candidates, that is fine. Let's at least make a post saying we looked and didn't find anything.

Besides, I never said your name in particular. Just saying it's something we, as the staff should do just to be on top of things.

Meh. Should have replied to this sooner. There were people that could have been promoted this month. We'll see about next month I suppose.
