Third party Runescape client.

By RobbieThe1st on 31/07/2009
I am sure by now that you have all seen Keanu's client. It is pretty good, though some people like SK, and some just don't like any client at all.

I want you to reply with what -you- want in a runescape client. What is important to you? What feature must it absolutely have?

Some issues to think about:
1. color scheme: What colors do you like? Is having multiple colors required for you?
2. Adaption to multiple monitor sizes. Do you use HD and have an oddly-sized window(due to widescreen, or just plain have multiple windows on screen at once?)
3. Use of space. Is it critical to have every pixel of space used to its fullest, or do you like fancy borders and graphics around your window?
4. IRC client. Do you need one? Do you use mIRC and won't change from that?
5. Tools. What tools are important in a client; what do you use all the time? Do you use a calculator, a list of worlds? What about stat-lookup or memberlist lookup?

Just do your best. Tell us all what you think is important.

something that the group of merchants have developed is a client that not only keeps track of items in ge but gives u the 5 and 20 day averages, also it predicts the rise and gives you a percentage of risk.

incorporated beside that is an item finder and a bank style slip of deposits and expenses one can keep track of how their gp is spend.

when i saw that i knew right away it was awesome

Colors must be easy to look at (dark, not distracting); perhaps with a choice. Some color variation between different applications on the client is nice.

Sometimes I use HD. I have my client maximized because I have dual monitors.

Some empty space is fine, but having a big wasted space is a little annoying. I really like how swiftkit has the highscores on the side w/o having to open up another window or click somewhere to get to it. I like having chat right on the bottom of the screen as well. I prefer there to not be useless graphics that I can't remove.

I need an IRC client. That's the main reason I use SwiftKit.

I use skill/combat calculators, highscores, stopwatch, and the screenshot feature that SwiftKit uses.

I use mIRC and the official Jagex client.

My monitor is at a 1366 by 768 resolution. Widescreen, but at an odd ratio. And I have multiple windows up all the time.

Space is a priority, as I like being able to keep an eye on everything I have open.

I won't switch from mIRC. I like how it works for me.

In all honesty, I don't like SS/SK. I won't be using Keanu's client, or any other as I have a set up that works for me. For clan/stats/item look ups... There's RuneScipt. Or I can open another tab on FireFox.

I use SK and like the look up at the side and chat at the bottom. I use the stats lookup a good bit. I like how they have the guides built into it. I just go there when I need to know what an item is or where to find a quest person.

I don't see me changing to anything new. I liked ss but the screen to rs got cut off when they updated and it became useless.

I use the RuneScape client and mIRC. Pretty much the set up for me because I can minimize what I want, when I want, to free up more space for me to browse on FireFox or whatever. I would more than likely not use another client such as SK/SS mainly because you are basically stuck with what they have.

I use tools that RuneScript has, and if I need anything else I open up Tip.It or Zybez. The only thing that I am jealous of, is the way SK takes the screenshots, but I know there are programs out there can do the same stuff, if not more, so I just deal with my "PrintScreen -> Paste into Paint -> Crop -> Save".

Darker colours i think would be better, a bit like the WG forums but a choice of colours would be good too

I use HD and like to be able to change the layout/size of it sometimes

Id rather the space filled with stuff i could use rather than fancy borders, well as long as it doesnt take up too much room i dont mind

I use mirc, but i think an irc client added to the bottom cant hurt for those who don't, but u should be able to 'hide' it, (like u can on SK)

The tools are pretty important considering thats what mainly sets it apart from just a regular internet browser, stat/clan lookups etc isnt really needed because of runescript though.
Cant think of anything atm that could go here hashdown.gif.png

I have to say this: Get z-screen: Z-screen. This is a free program for taking screenshots. You can easily have one button take a screenshot of the entire screen, another take a shot of the active(formost) window, and a third button allow you to select what portion of the screen you want to take a picture of... And after it takes these screenshots, you can have it either put them in the clip-board(for pasting into paint), save them to a file directly, or upload them to one of several websites!

Heck, you can even have it add a watermark to any picture it takes, if you so desire(like the SS one)!

You can do a huge amount of things, through a fairly simple options window. No hard modifying config files like on some programs.

Try it out. I am sure you will like it.
