Skills Olympics 2009

By George on 31/07/2009
¤ The basic rules and guidelines of the WG Skills Olympics 2009 ¤

What is it?

The WG Skills Olympics is a fun skills competition created by Renoldojr10 and Bambaleo!
It is where WG competes against a clan (in this case TBE) at each Runescape Skill.
The clan who wins the most amount of skills will win the Skills Olympics.

Amount of skills you may enter:

We have a limit on the amount of skills you may enter, so that everyone has a chance to compete for their clan and have fun.
You may enter a MAXIMUM of two skills.
It is particularily important that you ONLY enter a skill if you can gain a decent amount of exp.

Experience Monitoring:

Each skill will have one person appointed as an "Exp Monitor".
This person will have the task of taking the ending exps of everyone participating in their appointed skill at the end of the week.
They will also be in charge of updating the exp gains every few days.
This job will only be given to active members!

Train with each other!

During the week it may be a good idea to train your skill with people who are doing the same skill as you.
This stops you from getting bored and also gives you some time to get to know the person better smile.gif

What skills are counted?

Agility
Cooking
Crafting
Farming
Firemaking
Fishing
Fletching
Hunter
Mining
Runecrafting
Slayer
Smithing
Thieving
Woodcutting

All other skills in the list below are EXCLUDED:
Attack
Strength
Defence
Hitpoints
Prayer
Magic
Range
Summoning
Herblore
Construction

What happens next?
The staff need to do a bit of liasing with the TBE staff, but as soon as we are ready and have worked out all the details, we will open sign ups and give you all the dates of the competition!

Good luck everyone.
This is going to be a good competition!

Do we know when they're going to start? I'd be disappointed if it's not during the summer.

By George on 31/07/2009
Most probably Saturday August 15th- Midday EST

By Gibble00 on 31/07/2009
Good deal, I'll be out that weekend, but that gives me a week before headin back to school. Why not do some hardcore runescape training ^.^

Yeah that will be the end of my first week at school when it starts.. I don't know if I will be able to participate, but I want to.

Also: Do we have enough people to cover all of those skills? I remember last year we had people who didn't gain any experience, along with TDM having a few skills that were not signed up for. I would personally say cut down a skill or two.

By George on 31/07/2009
Well the problem is TBE have 92 members, so want to use as many as possible.
I have talked to them and we agreed to do 14 skills, 5 members each (70 places)
We have a ml of 72, but that doesn't include emeritus (also remember that we can participate in 1 OR 2 skills.
We'll see how the sign ups go and then make a decision! <3

A skill olympic you say. I will be on holiday the week of August 08, 2009 through who knows maybe I will stay on holiday but I should be back to RS the following week. I would probably like wc because I maxed it after the Jagex cup.

By txtawkin on 01/08/2009
sooo..this is not a timed event like the Jagex cup, correct? That means that only ppl who can no life it during that week should sign up?

Well it's supposed to be fun, so everyone should sign up as long as they can put enough effort in that would normally get them into the higher tiers during SOTW. It looks shitty if it's obvious our members didn't try, but don't think that means you have to no-life.
