July Promotions

I know that we only had promotions like two weeks ago.
The truth is that the staff were a week and a half behind with the June Promotions and so we were kind of playing catch up
Sue us.
No dont plz
Anyway.
After much discussion and consideration.
We have decided to promote no one this month.
Although all of you have been working extremely hard, there were no obvious candidates for the rank of Higher Guardian and Elite Guardian.
Do NOT be downhearted, if you are reading this and continue to work hard and help WG, then your efforts WILL be noticed sooner or later.
What an anti-climax... sorry

Don't jump on him guys. This is not a cop-out.
We did discuss it, and this is our conclusion.
It was MY idea to do it this way. We want you guys to know that we're not just sitting around. That we are looking but if we don't find anything, we want you guys to know that we tried.
Sorry to those that were hoping for a promotion, August is another month.

Maybe you don't think there are people who don't deserve promotions BUT I do.
So here is a list.
Pkers210 - Drew is very active, friendly, and has a positive influence on the WG community.
Txtawkin - Kathy is one of the most friendliest people in WG. She is ALWAYS positive and helps out newer people where as others shut them out.
Ludo Slayer - He has made multiple events, improved our publicity. He has recieved MotM but that should have no effect on promotions.
Dieyou2000 - He is a trial raid leader but that shouldn't have an effect either. Meets the requirements of the higher guardian forum post.
Me - I'm not going to blow my own horn but I know fine and well i've met over and above those requirements.
And do note that all these people listed above do meet these requirements.

Is there something more people must do? If there is then please do tell. People with 10x the amount of dedication of people that were promoted have not been and why is this. Reasons as to why these people don't deserve them, pm me because i'd love to know. Give me a warn level, feel free, I speak the truth.

Being kind, friendly and helpful is what is expected of you as a guardian. You can't be promoted because you do what you're supposed to do. You've got to go above and beyond.
Ludo wasn't promoted because he was given MoTM - we had him slated for promotion but we felt MoTM was more of an honor than being given access to another forum.
Drew, hasn't gone above and beyond. I like him, he's active and friendly and all that good stuff, but where is that extra bit of effort? Not saying he's not a quality member, but he just hasn't shown that extra bit of effort to push him into the next tier.
The reason I didn't nominate Die is simply because he is a trial Raid Leader. When he proves his total worth, he'll get his promotion to RL - only if he's able to. That promotion will be much more than "Can he lead?" We will be taking into account his attributes as a member, personal skills and all that stuff. Promoting him now wouldn't make much sense. Remember the last time we did trials, those who were passed over were promoted to the next rank, who's to say we won't do the same?
Like I said, being what we expect of you isn't enough. The post that outlines what must be done to attain HG is just an outline. It's not "If you do this, you get promoted." It saying that you MUST be those to be CONSIDERED for promotion, but to be competitive for promotion you have to be more than what is asked of you.
So you ask if there is more. The answer is yes. What that "more" is is up to you. Host events, make suggestions. Involve yourself with clan decisions, be outspoken but polite. We notice things that you think we overlook, but I can assure you it's more than "Who has the highest event and post count? They must be active, let's promote them."

You're allowed to disagree with the staff, that is your right and I respect that, but I stand by this post.
Whilst those are all v. good candidates Dylan we just don't think they are quite there yet, but I am sure in the future if they continue to be a positive influence on WG then they will be rewarded.

I really don't see how somone with 2 months of time gets promoted to people who have been in a year or more. Is the council active enough? Are you actually looking into everyday things like the irc? If you ask me, those people have gone up and beyond that requirement. I guess I will just trust the council. But the reason of this is i'm ranting for people who have gone literally forever without a promotion. Same goes for highers to elites.. Angus is a good example, his was WAY overdue.

It isn't just IRC Surfer. The council was quite active in the months of May and June, namely BTO (now inactive lalalalal) and Darth. Shit happens where you may not agree with it, but you have to deal with it because it is based off of someone else's opinion. They are not going to do a mass promotion of 8 people to Higher Guardian, so they had to pick those that had done that much more.
It took me 6 months for Higher Guardian and 3 more for Elite Guardian. And trust me, I disagreed with quite a few of the decisions by council for both of those ranks in my anticipation for the rank. At my point now, I think that the eagerness to be a higher rank is not worth fighting over, instead of being with WG and just doing my best for them, and not worrying about the rank.

Took me....8 months to get higher. Well over a year or more to get elite. LOLS.

I never even got higher or elite. You're not meant to worry about being promoted, it should come naturally.

Well after becoming a staff member Mark, you automatically go to Elite Guardian if you resign.
I mean I went straight from Guardian--->Skills Leader (events leader back in '07) and skipped HG and Elite...
