Helping new Guardians and Trials

By David on 04/08/2009
I posted this same suggest on the AF boards. It's pretty simple really.

Each week Staff/Council would make a post that would list all new Intros, Trial Guardians and newly graduated members.

This helps everyone get to know who has become a full member, and who is interested.

Lets face it...we don't all check the Introductions forum as often as we should, and this would help us still get to know the people wanting to join WG.

As each application/introduction/graduation is accepted the name could be added to a simple word document and at the end of the week, copy and past the list on the forums and make a post.

Simple.

P.S. This IS WG.

Sounds good.

It is hard to keep track of all the new intro's etc at the rate we are gaining.

why do i feel like nobody supports my ideas? and then it gets posted a month later?

=)

trying not to get on your bad side, but ive already talked this over with Lordy. he said its not necessary, because they would graduate themselves if they wanted to be in the clan. now, im neutral because i would do either but if Lordy says it, it goes

i offered myself to track down every single trial and intro to list their stage of application so we can help them if they're slowing, this way we can find out what happens to all our intro's. we would know how and why our intro's dont graduate, thus giving a better view of how recruitment is really going.

I don't see any reason for this not to happen.

As well all know, it can be very hard to feel like you fit in when first in a clan, and a weekly 'summary of new applicants' in either IA or gen matters would help to give people a quick overview of new members to help give those people a quick reference list of who's new smile.gif

And David, I thought this is AF? stop confusing me ffs frown.gif

This might be a good idea, but we don't want to be running over the intro's because they also need to prove they want to join us. They also need to do things , they need to take iniative(hows this spelled?) to get to know ppl.

All this would be is just a simple list like the example below:

New intros:
- Bob
- Billy
- Jake

New Trials:
- Alex
- Mike
- Abraham

New Guardians:
- Stewie
- Molly
- Parker

Not an elaborate schedule to find out who is where, and what stage they're at in the system. It's basically a consolidated "Hello" thread each week.

Put it this way:

Are you going to try to join a clan that doesn't even talk to you, besides the few people that check the introductions forum regularly? This would just get their names to a part of the forum that everyone reads that way people know who they are. From there we can help drag them in, but they still have to prove they want to be here - because if this works they'll get enough publicity that loads of us will be watching them, and we'll also have multiple views of each person so as to decide whether or not they really fit WG.

I'm not 100% sure about having the 'new intros' part myself, there is a shit load of intro'ers each week, and often they do not take the time or effort to join IRC.

Personally I think this should be to help new trials fit in (and congratulate new graduants) rather than be to help intro's who probably won't ever join WG, and frankly, I couldn't see many people adding intro's without talking to them first ohmy.gif

Yeah, I can see that as well.

This is just a rough idea, so knocking off the intro part is fine by me.

Just an added suggestion to this idea.

The list is great, maybe just a quick "hi, how you doing?" to anyone you see in irc you don't know.

Include RSN/IRC/name hash.png
