Support Please

By Eregion2 on 28/03/2008
If you have a moment, and are p2p, please login to the rs forums and go here: 28-29-550-56111160. Just a simple "neat idea"/"I don't like this" would be sufficient, just having some people post on it would be a huge help. confused.gif

Constructive criticism is also always welcome, although please post it on the rs forums if you can.

[title]Simple Suggestion Forum Fix[/title]

Actually, three fixes. I'm not sure how simple they would be to implement, but it would make the forum easier to use. I think these fixes would help fix most of the spam issues:

1. Make a "support/don't support" option on all suggestion forum threads. The total votes would be displayed on the threads page: "214" by a green checkmark and "94" by a red-X would mean 214 players voted in favor and 94 voted against, without even having to open the thread to read it.

If a thread gains enough votes, a Jmod could be automatically notified. That way, time would be saved by only reading threads which gain a specific approval rating (example: over 100 supporting votes, with at least twice as many supporting votes as there are dissenting votes).

2. Scratch this one, just saw another thread dealing with it specifically that a Jmod has already replied to, so it doesn't have to be here.

3. And, finally, HAVE SPECIFIC AND DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS WHICH EACH THREAD MUST COMPLY WITH. (Basic formats, use of at least half-decent grammar, etc.) If a thread, or a post on one of the Sticky Suggestion Threads, fails these specifications then allow Forum Moderators to immediately lock the thread or delete the post.

If that isn't enough to stop most of the spam, then attach a Three-Strike policy to each member's profile. If they have three threads locked or posts deleted in the Suggestions Forum for failing to comply with the forum specifications, then they're unable to access the forum for a week.

I was really happy when the Jmods were showing interest in the Suggestions Forum again, starting the new Stickied threads, etc., but none of them have been updated for over a month now (in some cases, two months or more). In a nutshell, I think these updates would help both the Jmods and players to make better use of the Suggestions Forum.

Sincerely,
Eregion2
