Laptop for School and Home

I'm looking for a laptop w/a 15-17 inch screen that will get me through school that can also play games that will be coming out now and in the future. I've done some looking around and all that I have found that looks to be in my price range($1000ish) is these 2 laptops from Gateway.

anyone have any other ideas for laptops in that pricerange or are either of those decent choices? just looking for a bit of guidance.

If you can afford to wait, hold off until Intel puts out the rest of their i-series processors. They are shear awesomeness. It's like going from pentium to dual core all over again..
