August Promotions and MOTM?

Anyone see any STRONG candidates.

I really think we should stick with our new movement of being selective with our promotions. So only the best of the best get them.

Given that, I can't really think of any "stand out" people.

At the same time, what about the Member of the Month?

For this, as controversial as it may be I think JC does deserve it. He comes across harsh and all that but the amount of work he puts in for WG is immense. He really does the work of a Staff member, without any of the authority and without anyone asking him to do it...he just does it. He fights hard for his ideas and beliefs but doesn't take it to the point of him being obnoxious. Sure he can be a little hurtful, but he doesn't take it too far.

Another possibility could be Owen, but I think he's more of a lesser version of JC.

I know it might seem a little weird giving MOTM to an Elite, but I really can't see anyone more deserving.

Promotions...

Once again, ludo slayer.
Works hard, makes events, very active.

Ludo has asked me for Higher Guardian 4 times in the last week.
So no, he should not get it.
He only wants it so he can apply for council.

And recently, Ludo hasn't displayed the kind of attitude that should be rewarded with a promotion.

I think Ludo deserves it.
For all the stuff hes done to try to help, I would have guessed that he was already a HG. Alot of the things he does he takes on himself. Nobody asks him to make events, he just does it

Ya Ludo definiately deserves to be promoted. Tell him to quit asking, if he can do that then promote him. Probably not this month I guess :\

I guess JC could be a possible candidate for MOTM. I understand that alot of times he can make some beef with staff for being critical, but he wants the same thing we do, and doesnt get too frustered from what I see.

I don't know im just rambling on right now. But in all honestly, I dont really see any other people that deserve promotions other than Ludo.

There's also Dylan (Surferguy80). He has been in WG for quite a long time, but he's a really quiet member, and still just a guardian. Sure, he's fun to talk to, but he just doesn't really stand out that much. Still, he's quite friendly with everyone and never causes any drama.

Comments/Concerns?

He's a good kid, but I still don't think he's done enough to stand out enough to earn the promotion.

Guardian --> Higher

Mtoise - very active for many months, completely wrinsed TBE in the Skills Olympics. Nice and friendly. Deserves this promotion.

Sgtswordfish - Event/Forum/IRC/RS active as well as being a very supportive member, especially to the staff. Epic exp gains during the olympics, showing his commitment to Weegee.

Surferguy80 (?) - See above

Higher ---> Elite

Chimp_Guy0 (?) - Event active again and has made a large number of suggestions, topics, to try and improve WG.
Although I am not sure.....

MotM:

Yes - I think JC should get it, although he is critical of the staff at times, he is always volunteering to help, most recently shown by how he created a script for the Olympics when RobbieBot wouldn't invite the Exp Trackers.

I've always been against giving promotions based on activity and friendliness. Those are things we EXPECT of our members. Promotions come with exceeding those expectations.

I don't agree with Chimp getting Elite. Elite is the end of the WG ladder and all that is left is staff. I don't see Chimp being at that level yet...remember we're not obliged to give out any promotions at all. And Elite should be few and far between. It should be the rank that appears very rarely and when it does people know that's a respected member. That aside, I still feel Chimp hasn't done nearly enough to really earn the rank yet.

Stgswordfish, and mtoise are active and friendly. But that's expected. I suppose they gave more activity than was asked of them during the Olynpics and that could serve as SOME part of their promotion, but not all of it.

The way I feel about promotions is that they really need to be earned. The things that JC does for the clan are things I would use to promote someone to Elite. Nobody really does more than they're asked, without being asked. That's the thing.

We hold the Olympics and we kind of expect you'll be a little more active and a little more engaged, so when you've gained a significant amount of EXP it's kind of like "Good, that's what we needed." If instead Mtoise or Sgtswordfish was able to gather their group together (team during the Olympics) and basically have an unofficial event just for them to skill together and have fun as a team then THAT would be something you'd put down, because they didn't HAVE to coordinate the group (unless they were trackers...) but they did because they felt like it could benefit the clan.

I'm not supportive of Surfer and Chimp being promoted. I could understand promoting Mtoise or Sgtswordfish, but maybe not both. Of the two, I'd go with Mtoise because he seems to do more than be active when the clan isn't doing something like the Olympics, whereas Sgtswordfish seems to just be really active and not do so much "extra" stuff, but that's just me.

I agree with Gorge's picks except surfer, chimp. I'd take fish over Mtoise if I had to choose. JC definitely deserves MoTM

Well in my eyes both Sgtswordfish and Mtoise have done enough to merit a promotion to Higher Guardian.
So we could promote both and 0 Higher --> Elite.

With JC as MotM.

I don't have a strong preference, but I feel strongly that only one should receive it.
