As far as I understood from the article, most of the RSNs registered are inactive, so what Jagex deems to be inactive, the RSNs will be freed and those people will have to choose a new one when they log in again.
I call dibs on Arsenalfan32. If they don't deem that inactive I dunno what is.

Actually, something like this may happen in the clan world.
Anybody remember The Sabres?
I predict that if RSN name changes are permitted, players will start changing their names to, for example. Di Stokenut or DI Steve. 399 opts of people with Di at the start of their names would be hot.
It would also be a great deterrent for spies and demonstration of loyalty. Especially if once your change your user name you're not allowed to change it again.

I did think of TS actually when I read it, this is what they were looking for back in 2004, it might bring em back into the spotlight eh
I think WG_Stokenut would look better than DI_Stokenut tbh.

They wouldn't make it so you'll be able to change your entire name, that's just stupid.
For example: Bobster125 (Pete) or it could be something like Bobster1990, That's what i think the name changes will be, to be able to change some numbers or one part of the name... Maybe even have your name in brackets or something at the side like your combat level is. It won't be a "Change it as often as you want" It'll be a once or twice change imo. I just highly doubt they'll make it so entire names could be changed, G'bye clan security if it is.

Frankly, this is one of the more pointless updates as it really will only be good to waste a bit of time or to be abused. I don't want to change my nick, not because its good or anything, but because I have been playing under the same name for a long time and I'm used to it by now.
Inevitably its going to be abused with people thinking up offensive display names etc, and its also aimed to help people who have an offensive acc name.... Why do we want to do that? despite jagex' being incredibly naieve I cannot see any reason to help people that obviously made intentionally rude names. No Jagex, they didn't just come across it accidentally.

You can change your name on WoW for a fee, that should stop abuse if they were to implement it.
