Wg "On Hold List"
By Chimpy on 14/09/2009
So ye I've noticed alot of people have either dissappeared or gone inactive due to irl and have posted etc.
I suggest instead of just kicking some of them (I think we can kick the ones that just vanish for like ever). We put the people on some sort of "On Hold List" where they are taken off of the main ML and put on that until they can be active again. I guess kinda like emeritus but for everyone sorta.
And also we pm them and stuff before to make sure there is a reason why they're all inactive and stuff, if they haven't made an inactivity post that is.
So ye n stuff

50/50 with this idea.
It's a good way to keep members.
Or, they could just become ex-member and reapply which isn't that hard.

If they're too inactive to be in a clan then kick them otherwise it delivers a message that it's ok to be inactive and starts bad habits.

I meant mainly for if they like have to go inactive for a month due to rl or something but are going to return after that.

Well then, what if they're on this list and they go to an event

I have to agree with Randy sorta.
I know my medical condition is affecting me some here and I may be looking at something soon.

Interesting idea, but randy does have a point.
Its pretty easy to make an inactivity topic, you can disclose as much as you want about why you're going inactive. If things really are bad, and you don't have time to make an inactivity topic, then being in a gaming clan is the last of your worries. If they then return, and say they have exceptional circumstances, you can bend it a little and let them skip applying if they want to.
Lordy's always been one for keeping it simple, and I can understand why. Although this is a good idea in a sense, its not too essential. My take anyway

I'm with Randy & Mike on this one.
That was the point of the Emeritus status: a right to be "on hold", but that has to be "earned" (being at least Higher Guardian).
I used to see it as an extra incentive to commit... and at a time where activity is badly needed I don't see why you'd reduce activity incentives, even if they're minor.
You wouldn't lose the member, yes, but nor do you lose him if he makes a valid inactivity post...
Even if you did lose the normal member who couldn't get Emeritus nor make an inactivity post, then one could consider that a constant, medium sized active clan is better than an excessively large inactive one.
But that point of view isn't universal of course.
However is it worth the administrative hassle and extra workload for high rankers?
