"Student Kills Intruder with Samurai Sword"

By Eregion2 on 15/09/2009
Enjoy. happy.gif I don't know what the deal is, if he'd used a gun in self defense there'd be no problem.

Now you know why I'm a Samurai. You get a Katana IRL like me and NO ONE can stop you.

By Bassism on 15/09/2009
Shouldn't have tried to steal from a Shogun.

Unless you have a gun.

Umm...

Sound quality sucks, but watch it the whole way through, or else skip to 2:10.

Unrealistic, how often are you gonna be able to position your sword to stop a bullet. Odds are astronomic and impossible if multiple shots are fired.

By Eregion2 on 15/09/2009
Even if you split the bullet, the two halves will still hit you straight on. hashdown.gif.png

Just watch the Matrix, it's entirely possible. I can do it easy in real life at full speed.

By Tnuac on 16/09/2009
Haha damn, that's what ya get from stealing.

Sounds like the undergraduate marksmanship expert did nothing wrong, he aimed for the hand, barely with intent to kill. Sucks, but that's the way it goes. Justice comes in many forms.

This is why you don't break into a person's home at night.
You do it during the day when nobody is home.

By Renoldojr10 on 16/09/2009
Dude thats so cool, haha he must have had to fun "defending" himself haha.

By Sum-41xx on 16/09/2009
It's crazy what a katana can do. Knowing just from sharpening skates (which are not even anywhere close to the sharpness of a katana (about a 1:500 ratio if i were to guess) Anyways from my experience skates can easily slice skin and flesh so a sharpened sword could probably do the same damage with much more ease. I'm not surprised to hear that the burglar was dead from bleeding once the cops got there.

Either way sucks that he died though :S would've been somewhat funny if he survived. but hey, then it probably wouldn't of hit the news.

By Kiwi011 on 16/09/2009
if some1 reaks in my house hes dead, im not going to let him sue me for chopping his hand off.

Self defence=right to kill if it involves your life or someone else's.(extreme circumstances)

By rachellove9 on 16/09/2009
He should not be held in jail all this time. The legal system is messed up. It was self defense. If anything they should go back and charge the judge for letting someone that is a piece of crap out of jail so quickly.

I'm not a violent person but if I got attacked I would not hold back in defending myself.

By WG_Keanu on 16/09/2009
And the moral of the story is:

Don't B&E right after getting released from jail. You might get your ass Samurai'ed.

Self defence wins. He could have had a rocket launcher for all I care.

"That's not the american way to kill someone son, the 2nd ammendment clearly says guns. I guess you're sorry now to have one of those chinese mumbo jumbo's thingy"

By sgtswordfish on 16/09/2009
i probably would have done the same thing. hurt first and ask questions later.

except a machete would have hurt more

Actually took the time to read this time around, and from the sounds of it, the Baltimore Police are still deciding whether to press charges or not. Not only that, it sounds like they're going to side with the kid, unless he had malicious intent to kill after the first strike was made.

hell, id have malicious intent, a weapon is meant to kill to protect, there is no wound.

From what I read it was all done in one strike. I would be more likely to use a gun than a sword, but scare me in the middle of the night . . . I think surprise attacks and intruders get what they deserve sometimes in self defending justice.

I am going to call my uncle who is a big time lawyer and find out the details he knows.

i highly doubt a criminal would be carrying around a browning machine gun...

From what I read it was all done in one strike.

Nope, they believe he struck over 2 times.
It's not easy to inflict a "spear laceration" while nearly severing an arm -- atleast not with light-to-intermediate training.

The dude went Kill Bill on the elderly burglar... R.I.P.

By Eregion2 on 19/09/2009
Heh, if I had a sword and someone broke into my house and "lunged" at me when I was holding a sword, I wouldn't stop after one swing and go "Hey you alright mate? Or are you going to try and kill me again? I don't want to get in trouble for cutting you up too much here." That combined with adrenaline and someone (I'm guessing) who's never used a sword in violence before... I believe those are extenuating circumstances. Hell I'd have sliced the shit out of the guy before I even knew what'd happened.

By Dallar on 19/09/2009
If someone would get the crazy idea of swinging a knife at me, I wouldn't hesitate in stabbing him back. It's instinct to be honest. If someone wants to take your life, you better fight for your life.
