Rate my event!

Rate my event!

I was thinking that Robbie could make a little something that would keep a tally as to the top rated events in WG, as voted for by the members. I am not talking about a single event in particular, but rather the event idea. This could possibly be in sync with our events catalog, so that we could actually sort events as to popularity and other "descriptions".

This would take the Events catalogue that we have of right now on a forum thread and it would probably be made in php so that it could be organized in the aformentioned way.

This would be a huge step forward as to how we decided what events will be held when. As there could be not only ratings, but also a thing to vote for that event to be held next, so that members have a say in what event will be held, as opposed to the Event leaders trying to guess what everyone wants. This way they could look at the list, see what was the most asked for event, and make an event.
EDIT: I think this catalogue would also have to remember peoples time zones so that the event leader could make the event at the appropriate time. The catalogue would then post the time zone that requested the event the most times.

Of course, a member would only be allowed to vote a certain amount of times, say per week.

Yes idea's that could make this better, or if you don't think it's a good idea at all. W/e.

If i were made EL, I would be more than willing to work on putting all the information in, such as the Event names and descriptions.

Summary:
1)More events
2)More events, but at better times (THe timezones that requested the event the most)
3)Hosting the wanted events.
4)Allowing EL's to see which events are the favourite

Here's a rough idea of how i pictured it would look.

Good idea Sooth. This wont be job just for Robbie, but also for us. ve have to vote the events. Also we have to attend the event if we want to rate it. This might be useful
I think the best marker how poeple like event is attendance.

I'm assuming Robbie might need a better framework than what we have here, so Sooth, I'd like you to be on hand to fully explain it to him just in case.

Looks definitely like a good idea.

I think I understand what you want, no worries there. My hyperactive brain also figured out a way to handle it, so I see it as a definite possible.

However.....

I am currently running into time issues, at least during the week. Weekends wise, I generally only work on coding if I am feeling well and not tired. Which I have been a fair amount in times past.

The one thing I want to implement fairly quickly though is a time-zone tool, which has two parts: Currently, the forum stores your timezone, and uses it for calculations as to post times and such. I want to extend this system to allow for posting "dynamic dates" which show the date/time in your timezone. That is easy, now that I found out where all the code for BBcodes is. That is part one.

With that done, I want to setup a new forum profile page where you have 7 24-hr "clock"s(*NOTE*) and you click on the times(of each day, in half-hour increments) that you can attend events normally. Once this information is all saved, I can then use this for a tool that allows raid leaders to choose the best time, and expected/possible number of attendees - Specific names are also possible.
Hm, I might also be able to have it send personalized notifications -only- to people who could attend a specific event.

Once -that- is done, this system could be added. I figure this is a good three or four day project, but those are multi-hour days... so it may be a while before I start. Still, I like the concept, and the temp graphics.

Note: I need help making the graphics for this. If someone wants to talk to me about pixeling or somehow drawing it, PM me. I am going to need one disk with two colors chemes - unselected and selected.
