They should stop making it so easy for parents to let this happen. They are selling plus sizes for kids in JCPenny. If parents had to have the clothes sewn or altered maybe they would push them to exercise more.

I blame the parents and schools for this. The school lunches are a bunch of carbs and fat. Parents are to busy making money to cook good meals so they bring home pizza 2 or 3 times a week. You never see a 5 year old at the grocery store buying their own food. It is a sick thing to let happen to the innocent children of the world.

Rant/ That is all.

hehe. i don't see how a quarter can be obese and 3 quarters not obese if the above is true. everyone subjected to the same lunch. same shopping experience. etc.

i have to say that lifestyle is a big denominator and i for one can say that if one dosen't pay attention they slowly gain weight. obesity isn't something that happens overnight but a compiled effect over time.

soz kids but u might as well start getting out. parents can't force their kids to do anything really since its the kids incentive to lose weight that will make the difference.

as for australians. wtf!. lol

come on, obesity is a human concern and not an american concern. its no wonder a quarter kids are obese. ohmy.gif

get up from the critic chair and go play. after ur all 100% non obese u can come back and point the finger at america. oh wait. i forgot, everyone is a critic.
just jk. but yeah,

everyone is in this together. biggrin.gif

It is NOT hard to lose weight. Honestly, it's so easy. Obese people aggrevate me, it's like, why can't you see you look horrible and are unhealthy. Why would you let yourself get that way?

I don't expect everyone to be a bodybuilder, or ridiculously ripped, but it's not too much effort to be healthy. Hell, there's even healthy options to replace most of the fatty/unhealthy foods people like to eat, yet they still do it.

I'm not pointing blame at any country, like sgtswordfish said, Obesity/Health is a human concern not an american/australian concern. Everyone should want to be healthy and should make the time in their 'hectic' daily life to lose weight.

On the subject of the Diet vs Exercise argument, I'd say it's about 40% exercise, 60% diet, you could do hardly any 'exercise', but you expend energy in your daily life, so as long as you consume less than you expend you're gonna start losing weight.

Arnold Scwharzenegger once said "Great Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym". This is completely true.

TL;DR - I hate fat people. People need to eat better/exercise more.

Yeah, sorry about that. We needed Australia to gain some weight or America was going to tilt Earth off its axis. It was a necessary evil. woeh.gif

This.

... But it's not as easy for some people; especially young teens.

Of the children surveyed, 97 percent had watched television, videos or DVDs in the previous fortnight, and 64 percent had played electronic or computer games, the ABS said.

How many 5-17s do you know who spend 2 weeks without any TV, computer or games?

Oh well. I'm not fat, so idrc about however many Aussie kids are. The media is over-obsessive with them - you always get something about obesity rate somewhere in the world in every news round, magazine, whatever. It's like, "Ya thx for sharing now what do you want me to do about it, start a global excersize program?"

Seconded. I actually made it up to 144 then fell back to 132 when the semester started again. blankstare.gif I think that actually puts me underweight for my height and age groups, lol.
