The WG Ranks

By Randy on 29/09/2009
Quite a long time ago I suggested something along the lines of a star system based off of activity and performance in wars. The positive of it is it can tell us who can war and who can't. The flaws with this system was the fact that another clan could see this and determine their piling targets. But now looking back on it, with a slight modification, there are ways to avoid this.

The three factors of warring:
  • Practice
  • Activity
  • Effort

Each on of these three factors can be expressed under the following guidelines.

Practice
War practice. Scheduled, random, weekly, who cares. As long as the raid leaders make these, the less experienced members can at least see the basics, if not do them themselves. Practice makes perfect as I'm sure many members of this clan can prove.
The solution: Stars. Five of them. You obtain a star for every war practice you attend regardless of how well you do. As long as you go, watch, and do, the raid leaders can pass you off as good. This can eventually work its way into graduation somehow. Stars may be removed if performance lacks and it is apparent they need more help.

Activity
We already have the perfect war counter.
The solution: Using it more. Maybe for raids?

Effort
Clan rank. This system is already working.
The solution: None.

Putting it all together
Since the three factors have a system, they can be combined. For example, I would be an Elite Five-Star Hero (Clan Rank-Stars-War Rank). The usefulness of this comes when we have to analyze members on their dedication (are they active? are they trying? etc.). Also, this will establish a clear way of cutting for matched wars. Plus it sounds pretty badass.

Doesn't sound bad necessarily, just really different hash.png. I don't think our curent system is bad, but this is another good system. Either way, I don't really care what is decided.

(Clan Rank-Stars-War Rank)

I read Clan Rank - Star Wars Rank.

Not bad, but would maybe me confusing for new members?

^ That's my one concern.

Hmmm interesting concept

However.
I don't think that a star should be freely awarded just for attending.
Stars should be harder to earn then that. I suggest breaking it down even further to a points system.
1 point for attending a practice. Maybe .5 points if you were not active at the practice.
1 point for a raid.
1 point for capped/matched war.
2 points for a full out war.
2 points for a short prep war.

These points would go towards your stars. Each of which is worth a different amount of stars.
1 star = 10 points
2 stars = 15 points
3 stars = 25 points
4 stars = 38 points
5 stars = 55 points.
Just pulling numbers out my ass here.

With the counter being reset after each promotion (Not including left over. Ex: Say you have 11 points, you would then receive 1 star and have 1 point left over.)

I had more, but forgot it while making up numbers.

Nice informative reply saad. Why even post if your not going to say anything?

I'm not sure I like it yet. I think the 5 stars for attending practices is a great idea.

However, let's say I'm a member like Omar or Joe. I get my 5 stars and can do it all great at wars, so I never be bothered attending another practice. How is that great?

Don't we learn from example too. Like watching the better war people doing their thing. Just my thought is some will go to every one and some will claim it is boring and will not want to be bothered helping the stragglers. We have seen this before.

It would need to have a rolling type count with subtracting the stars off.

I do not like the points idea. All that seems a bit long and a lot of work for those doing the attendance. Keep it simple or it simply won't be getting done.

Don't mess with the war counter. If you want a raid counter then add it. Wars are to be special and help us determine who is active.

In regards to your "war counter show's who's active" line. That is very inaccurate. I have 8 wars...... We never war. The event counter is what show's who's active.l

I thought they keep track by dates on the wars too. I know they know who doesn't attend. They used to pm people who missed 3 in a row or something.

If the wars aren't being updated, what makes you think they will use a more complicated method of attendance?
