Vista reactivation...

So yeah. Every time I reinstall Vista onto this computer, I have 30 days to type a valid code, and even then, the code that comes with the Dell CD doesn't work because THIS IS NOT A DELL COMPUTER.

Fucking Acer shipped Dell CD with an Acer.
Good job, dumbasses.

Any way I could stop the countdown without.. buying an entirely new edition of Vista?

Expensive :<

The thing is, Vista is a fucking shit OS.

You're better off getting Windows 7 than trying to fix it tbh.

By Kyle on 04/10/2009
Well, I want anything that I can do to fix this that'll cost no money.

Torrent Windows 7.

Well I shouldn't really reccomend torrenting an OS but if you know a trustable version it is free...

But seriously, the last OS you want is Vista. Actually the last one you want is Windows ME but Vista is a close second. Windows 7 is worth the reinstallation tbh.

Tbh the Vista > 7 upgrade should be free cause Vista was that shit.

cbf to do all that shit. Plus isn't there the cut-off date or something where all Vista 7 versions shut down and die, and you're forced to buy it or something?

Only if you have the Beta version. The actual OS becomes available for public demand sometime this month which is like any other OS.

Rule 1 of OSing is if yours is publicly agreeably crap and there's a new one out that your computer can run, GET IT.

Download an activator.

Can't remember how I did mine, cos my friend helped me, but I'm seeing him today so I'll find out.

Ehhh.. There is some wrong information in your posts Keanu, but oh well.

A few things.. As much as I hate Vista, it isn't that bad. It really depends on the user and their uses. It just isn't as clean or functional as it could or should have been, leaving people to prefer XP over it. This led to the hype of Vista being shit, and people have blown it out of proportion.

Also, the free version of Win7 that shuts down in February is the Release Candidate. The Beta was released and you can use it, but it just does not have all of the functions that the Release Candidate or the full version will have when it is released.

Also, I believe (correct me if I am wrong though) that Win7 comes out October 22nd. The regular upgrade cost would be $120, but I read an article that if you have a college e-mail (.edu address) that you could get the Win7 upgrade from Vista for only $30. Due to you going into the Marines, you wouldn't have one, so up to you to try to find a way to get that discount. hash.png

Two things to do if you don't want to upgrade to Win7 at the exact moment. Call Acer customer support and get their help (after talking to a few Indians I am sure you will get someone whose first language was English) and ask them to send you an Acer installation CD. Or you can find an activator like Owen said.

Have you tried it?

The ONLY good thing about Vista is it looks good. The actual interaction is shite... it's a pain in the ass to do pretty much anything. What pisses me off most is the fact that you get asked for confirmation to do EVERYTHING. Even when you're admin.

Get the upgrade, even if lives must be lost.

I used it for 2 months, my brother has used it for a year, and I have been on multiple computers with Vista. It isn't horrible.

Course it's not horrible. IT'S FUCKING USELESS.

I'd prefer Windows 1 over Vista (And I have tried Windows 1 OS, it's weirdly cool. Runs fast as hell as well)

I have a Windows 7 RC1 key if you want it. The problem is, in like 4 months or so the RC testing period will end and Microsoft has added bits of code to restart your computer every 2 hours.

But for a temporary fix, I'd say the Windows 7 RC1 is a great free option.

Sorry, the Windows 7 RC is no longer available for download. If you’ve got the download and need a product key, they’ll be available until October 21, 2009.

Well, I found a link to Windows Vista Ultimate fully cracked and everything, so I'll try that out.

You can turn of the confirmation thing... I have Vista, upgraded from XP, and I prefer it.

I love how they call it home 'premium' as opposed to what? it's the most basic version of Win 7 you can buy blush.gif

I read an article that if you have a college e-mail (.edu address) that you could get the Win7 upgrade from Vista for only $30. Due to you going into the Marines, you wouldn't have one, so up to you to try to find a way to get that discount.

What, so college students get cut-price technology and the armed forces don't? blink.gif

By RobbieThe1st on 08/10/2009
Well, you could perhaps call up Acer and explain your problem. They will probably help you.

Otherwise... http://www.kubuntu.org/ <- looks nicer than Vista, BTW

Yep. Well as far as I know.

Talk to Microsoft about that one.
